Any tips? I tend to miss quite alot because I can't tap fast enough, I tried using 2 keys occasionally but it just feels weird for me and I tend to mess it all up :/ I want to be able to play insane mode songs, but I'm sure those requires you to use 2 keys at some point sooo yea.

Zombi, please play normal.

I've seen this type of post too much... like... trice... yeah. Please, no more this kind of post.

Don't alt. Single tap.
Keep going a bit faster and faster every next day.
Same goes for streams.
You'll become fast enough soon enough.

Most beginners are born with enough speed to beat 160 - 180bpm maps. What you need is accuracy, stamina, reading and listening so you can use that speed. Play more.

Alternate is probably only good at around 300bpm single taps. I can tap around 280 bpm single just from practice.
Oh, also preference. I tried alternate and ohhhh is it hard from how confusing it is.

alternating is hard?I can't even singletap 160+ bpm

When people say "alternate" here they basically mean tapping alternately all the way through the map.
Respectively, when they say "single tap" they mean single tap on non-streams and alternate on streams.
It sounds kind of confusing, but that's the way it is for years.

OT: I think you can think about some parts of music with distinctive beats, and tap streams on your table as long as you can. It doesn't need to be fast, but it needs to be constant. Try this for a period of time and you may got a surprise on your improvement :D

Btw I do know the specific terms for the two play styles without confusion, but the terms are not in English.

Why does everyone say alternating is bad and confusing? Wouldn't that be because you're already used to single tapping slower bpm so of course switching would feel weird. Alternating actually helps you to learn triples and streams, increasing your overall speed. I've personally played both and I really don't see how it's any worse than the other. I'm just being the devil's advocate here.

To the OP, you probably should just play easier maps; pick a tapping style and practice it.

it doesn't increase your speed nor does it help you learn triples and streams faster than single tapping wat

but it does increase your bisexuality

Winber, you need to relax and watch scary porno.

Just trying to start a discussion. OP also said he can't tap fast enough, so alternating would probably fix that issue. Or I guess he could just single tap faster but you know, why not.

well even being the devil's advocate, it doesn't really work to spout incorrect info without some reason to back it up.

like yo man do you believe that god exists? i can say no cuz bruh i ain't got no heavenly spirit following my ass offering me saltine crackers mate, or i can say god lives within us all, and he works in indirect ways, working towards a mutual benefit for us all... commence 15 page monologue

you know this example doesn't show anything, but oh well. i don't need your sass mate

I think alternate tapping is important. (In my opinion) Mostly cause it allows you to split the tasks between the two fingers rather then one it's kinda like mouse. you use the keys instead of clicking same concept allows you to split the tasks. It basically allows you to do more but ether way it's preference. Anyways GL;HF.

You're not wrong. I just don't think people should discredit different playstyles because they might work or not work for different people.

I kinda did pull most of the facts out my ass, so my bad about that.

I have been alternating everything and everywhere since I've started playing osu, and at some point recently I had to make changes to this play style, because my brain would just freeze at some patterns, and even though I understand them, my fingers just stop responding. For some time now, I've switched from alternating everything, to mostly alternating, except for jumps, and such. While it is sometimes confusing, I've seen improvement in my reading, and with some practice I think it will be for the better.

You can get over the brain freezing but it's probably a lot more effort compared to singletapping the same stuff.

New players can learn to alternate first and then transition to single tapping. Alternating is essentially slow streaming and can be used on a wide variety of maps without it being grueling and boring to play maps that are actually slow. Once your fingers are up to it you can switch to single tapping which allows you to focus more on controlling your fingers to move faster individually and in whatever pattern of movements you want.

To put it simple; you can learn either/both method(s) and still be fine in the end. This has been proven already.

No method is better than another with osu! it all just matters how much effort you put in and what results you bring from your efforts.
