Please try deleting osu!framework.dll and osu!sdk.dll from your osu! folder (they might be hidden files).

I couldn't find osu!sdk.dll, and it still wont work.peppy wrote:

If you move osu!.exe to a new (empty) folder does it run?

EDIT: After updating, I got an error message.

hello. i had the same problem; solved it per moving osu!.exe to C:\Program Files\osu!_test\ (empty folder).
after running osu 1-2 times i moved the folder content into C:\Program Files\osu!\ back (overwritten content).
Now i have no problems.... but at first start there was a problem with displaying the beatmaps ordered in difficulties (3* were in category 5*).

this should be fixed with the latest release, too (http://m1.ppy.sh/release/osu!.exe.zip)
