I found a software that is able to find the BPM by itself.
If peppy could implement this to the osu! would be a lot easier to do beatmaps.

The software is VirtualDJ.

If he can't implement this, we have another option.
Download VirtualDJ, open it, drag the song to the software and the BPM will be shown in the top of it.
The program have a 20 days trial.

*This is not an advertisement, is only one way to improve the osu!.

I feel that having an automated system encouraged will only lead to more inaccurate timing.

Not automated, only a guide for inexperienced mapers.

IIRC, programs like these usually only give the average BPM for the song, so if there are multiple BPMs, it won't work.

If a mapper can't figure out a map's single bpm, then they shouldn't be mapping at all imo.

Or, they shouldn't be mapping that song if they can't time it even close.
peppy

b) inaccurate, therefore i will not implement

I tested in several songs, but well...

Yes it works with certain genre correctly, but it also fails a lot. Figuring out the BPM yourself will take around 20 seconds using the osu! wizard, and if it doesn't, the bpm is likely not going to be detected correctly by an algorithm.
