What is Quality Improvement Team?
We are an unofficial group of modders and mappers. Our priority is not making traditional mods, but we are helping new people ranking their maps in-depth. This means we are answering their questions about mapping, we are frequently checking their maps and saying what are they doing wrong. Basically we are here to move the map to the statement where it is worth a rank. We will start to help you through IRC, where we will force you to get some mods and we will tell you what you should focus on when fixing your map. Then we will consider whether the map is good or not - If not, we will try explain. After we see you understand what do we want you to do, we will make a mod for you if we think it is needed. After you fix it, it should be already in good statement to go for a BAT. If your star priority is under the required 12+ for a rank, we can tell you to get few more mods, eventually we will get some for you through M4M or from our friends, also other members of this team might mod it. Anyway, once we see a potential in your map, it will be frequently checked by any of the members and he/she will tell you what you've fixed wrong or what you shouldn't have fixed.

How can I get your help?
Simply post your map here and we will tell you whether you are eligible for getting our mod.

Please beware we are not obligate to make your map rankable immediately. If we see your map is disgusting, we will explain you what you don't understand and what should you do when mapping. If we see your map can be brought to the rankable state after changing it a bit and explaining some things, we will focus on the map more. It's just all up to you whether you are going to accept our help and improve your map, or you will just do nothing, which means we won't be able to improve it.

How to join the team?
There are not much things needed to become one of this team, but still you won't get here for free. Here are few requests.

  1. You have to be a good mapper - A good mapper know how the map should look and sees the mistakes in other maps, we don't require you to have huge amount of ranked maps, but you should have some ranked ones and they must have good quality.
  2. You have to be a good modder - You don't need to have thousands of kudosu, but we will check some of your mods - You can even choose which one you want us to check, at least we will see the best job you can make. The important thing is we want to see you can find important thing, then clearly explain why is it wrong and how to fix it. This means we don't want you to mention "1 grid left, 1 grid right" stuff, but focusing on important things. Obviously it is fine to mention these details, but these are last things you should be checking, the most important is correct structure, details are just minor things, so we won't let you join the team if we see you cannot find anything serious in your mods.
  3. You have to be a good teacher - You have to know how the players will understand what do you really say. They should improve their overall mapping, not only one map after you list every single thing he should fix. There is no way to see it for us. Only way is checking your mods, but that's not 100%, so basically we will add you to the team even if we are not sure about this, then the mappers who got your help can tell us if they could understand what you were saying to them. This should be okay if you are good at English.
If you want to join, just PM me through forums or in-game.

What do I get?
Everything you get depends on map's current statement and on how much do you improve. If it is terrible, we will start from the top of this list, if it is promising, we can start near to end of this list.
  1. Explanation of basic settings
  2. Basics of mapping
  3. Sensibility and consistency
  4. Perfection
  5. Request on getting more mods or getting them for you
  6. Checking the changes on your map
  7. Mod
  8. Eventually getting a BAT for you

Well, posting there will not give you anything. If you have any questions or already want our help, PM one of members.

I should bump this thread, you can now request your mod just here in the thread by posting it here. PMs didn't really work well. Let's finally bring this to a serious statement!

well, if I know how to read, I think it should be open.

Hope you like it and thanks in advance! :>
NB : you're not forced to pm Senritsu for Taiko, i'm more in the objective to find a taiko bat for our taiko diff, but if he wants to look at, then he can.

This might be better than just seeing a "move this, move there" mod. anyways, thanks... QITs(?) >w>

This queue is such a good idea. Having queue's like this actually improves all modding queues since it will allow maps going for ranked to not be spammed out by maps that aren't really ready for rank at all. I hope this really takes off because this is the hand that new mappers need to get them into the mapping community with respectable maps.

If you have the time, please look at this mapset: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/239635 . I've gone through a lot of learning stages and think I have a map that is good enough to be considered for modding with the eventual goal of being ranked. It'd be great to know before I start asking for mods if I'm on the right track. I think the problems that I'd like to see addressed are as follows:
General:
There are some design issues throughout the mapset, but I think this would be fixed after some mods. (Example: Normal 00:32:021 (2) - , 00:30:928 (3,1) - )
I think I use the same distance snap too much, so it lacks some of the fluctuations of energy for the harder difficulties.
The slider at 01:32:803 (1) - feels like it ought to have a nice hitsound to match the singer's inflection, but I hate whistle and don't know what to do.
Normal:
I didn't have a rhythm that supported the hitsounds of the other maps, so I took a more liberal approach which probably has some poor sounding notes.
I use 1/2 at 01:55:771 (5,6) - and onwards and don't know if this throws the difficulty consistency out the window that a Normal is looking for. I considered using 3/2 sliders but the section to me felt like it demanded more than that.
Medium:
This stack seems like it wouldn't be read easily, so I may have to change it, but I really like this pattern .... 00:16:553 (2,1) -
More but I should probably shut up now XD

Anyway thanks for the consideration and good luck with the queue.

Thanks for making a thread like this.

This queue sounds great. I've heard people say that mappers' first map will never be ranked, and I hope not to follow that trend.
My map got up over 12 priority recently, but modding has still been a little spotty so far, with some difficulties having received as little as zero or one mod.
It's been given widely varying comments, from praise, to still requiring heavy work. So at this point I'm not totally sure what to think.
How close or far am I from ranking? Do I just find a BAT and show them the map? When is the right time and when is just a waste? Maybe I even need to abandon the Osu diffs entirely and stick with just the Taikos?
Questions like these are why I hope for the kind of support that a queue like this could provide me.
