Windows 8 isn't really that bad...as long as you apply all those mods to get the start menu back etc. And disable all that shit where menus pop up when you move your cursor to any edge of the screen, that is soooo annoying.
Overall it seems a lot more stable and faster than windows 7.

Personally I think it's the other way around, my computer w/ windows 7 boots up almost three times faster than windows 8. I also had a lot less to deal with when starting up windows 7. Both windows run smoothly, just with different options and some completely new screen.mathexpert wrote:

I'm running a dualboot of 7 and 8.1. While I prefer the interface of 8.1, it has latency problems in windowed mode that you can't get rid of (even if you use the cmd trick to disable DWM) and is incompatible with the HIDUSBF polling rate mod.
Honestly though, I really don't get the hate for 8.1. Sure, it has its problems, but it is by no means a terrible operating system.

i use windows 8.0 (can't upgrade to 8.1 due to shitty samsung driver issues but hey at least this is still supported for now) and it's been great for me. people who say "boo hoo tablet operating system" are just super autistic and can't accept change for once in their lives

Like I've said earlier, I actually prefer windows 8.1. But don't you think that the way Microsoft handled windows 8 was incredibly stupid and ignorant? Why couldn't they have 2 editions? Windows 8 for mobile, where there is the Start Screen, dragging shit from the edges of the screen, and opening pictures/videos/other media obnoxiously in full screen by default instead of windows. And then, Windows 8 for desktop, without all that shit. It's not that complicated – Apple, an company that knows what the fuck they're doing, has always had iOS and OS X separate. god, after the Xbone incident and windows 8 I've started to question microsoft a lot.
I'm running 8.1 (decided to give it a try) and it's pretty great, no complaints so far (well other than some things not working the way they're supposed to, I miss you bassmidi ;_;) but I still feel more at home with Windows 7...
