ok so how do you change the background when editing a map just to play it at ar 9.5 or 10? i like most only play with black screen

I may have misunderstood your question but why not change the ar to 9.5 or 10 and play the map in play mode. Than when you are done just update the map.

oh damn, sorry i was thinking you play it on 'test' in editor haha, that solves my question
seriously how do we change the background? when i want to practice a certain part of a map i play it in the editor but the background makes it impossible for me to play. deleting the background from the osu! folder is too much hard work. any other solutions for that?

If taking 20 seconds to delete a BG is too much work, deal widdit.
I'm not understanding you very well, but just use BG dim\delete background
