There is a rank for Standard, for Taiko, for CtB and for Mania.
I request there to be a fifth rank. The cumulative rank.
It takes all your pp from all modes together (and divides by 4 for average) and that will be an other ranking.
So I would have 1369+3449+863+624 = 6305 total pp (1576,25 average)
Jackylam5 (good Dutch all mode player) would have 5593+1983+3965+1070 = 12611 total pp (3152,75 average)
It counts it vor everyone, and makes a new ranking (make a new tab in ranking page http://osu.ppy.sh/p/pp which you can set to country/friends

I actually had something like this in my mind aswell but could not post it because some silly rules. Your idea sounds good thou.

+1 if you figure out a good way to get cumulative rank for each map difficulty aswell.

i dislike this because it feels like adding unnecessary clutter to userpages but at the same time a new ranking like this could breathe some life into the other modes as surely quite a few people would like to be rank 1 'all-around' osu player.

It will NOT add a fifth tab in userpage, but in the notmal text, cumulative pp+rank
Also it will go to the page I said

Love the idea! It also encourages players to maybe be all-rounders

I always wondered, as an all-mode player myself, who is the best at playing all modes. I would like to compare my 3455pp average with others. I think the best one would be Remilia-Scarlet if he was still playing.

i really love this idea, its only a think if peppy wants to use so much server space to do another ranking calculation, but if he does then it would be so fucking awesome..im gonna give this idea all my stars since i love all-mode playing ^^

Though it's unnecessary, I feel like it would be a 'fun' addition.

However I do feel this a bit of a problem:
- Doing it the way you suggested would mean going to the rankings-page and having to look up every single player I'd want to know the cumulative ranking of.
- Not doing your way would mean everyone's profile would have to be changed and I can see a lot of people not wanting that.

It can also display on the profile as a new 'tab', like Kudosu, Beatmaps, Achievements.
Cumulative stats maybe?

1.) Why not
2.) It shows who is the best all-rounder
3.) Adds a new ranking to the game
4.) Supports people to play all modes, like me
5.) Hopefully there will become more hybrid mapsets, as all modes are going to be together for an extra ranking, so more mode-scecifics would be good

Why not? Different game modes are basically different games. Why does a cumulative rank across different games make any sense?

Never mind the fact that pp differs wildly across all osu!'s game modes.

An average rank makes slightly more sense (but still is nearly pointless), but a rank determined by simply adding your ranks for each mode together makes no sense at all. Each gamemode has a variable number of players active, meaning ranks in each mode have different levels of value. If you're ranked 3k in std, that is worth a LOT more than 3k in mania. Also, how do you handle players who only play some of the modes, but not all?

Assuming everyone cares about ranking in the first place. It hardly adds any real value to the game since it's just doing a bit of math for you.

It doesn't add any new mechanics to the game, nor does it add anything particularly useful (such as editor improvements, new mods, etc.). I suppose the one thing it has going for it is that it would be relatively easy to implement.
