I have taken a hobby of comparing characters from one particular series to another. 4 months ago I caught myself up with the manga of Shingeki no Kyojin and watched 2 episodes of the anime(I can't get through that beginning again ಠ_ಠ). A month after, I watched through all the Lord of the Rings movies again. In between that time and now, I can't help but compare the personality and experiences of the characters from both series. Here are the characters from Shingeki no Kyojin who I think would play best as in Lord of the Rings.
This list has spoilers as the characters position is due to their background and personality. If you haven't read the manga but watched the anime, i would recommend that you get caught up with it before reading
Eren Jaeger - Frodo Baggins(the two don't compare in personality but they are lead characters)
Armin Arlert - Samwise Gamgee: Both have potential characteristics that they didn't know they had.
Krista Lenz - Aragorn: The two are heir to the throne, don't want to be ruler, and both have different identities to mask who they are. Also one is a Ranger of the North and the other is a part of the Scouting Legion. (probably the only two that I can provide evidence to their similarity.)
Sasha Braus - Gimli or Legolas: I can't think of any reason except that Sasha reminds me of Gimli and her archery is that of Legolas.
These are characters I'm still trying to find similarities to, but there probably isn't anything there to begin with except to be buddies to the main characters.
Ymir - Legolas, Arwin
Mikasa - Legolas, Eowyn, Faramir
Levi - Legolas, Eomer
