I have been holding this on my heart for a while. This bothers me so much that I need to post a rant for this one

As the title says, lets get in to it

Before reading my opinion about waifuism, please read this first.

I can't understand people being stupid about the concept of waifuism. God, I don't even know why there are people hate Waifuism or restrict it at some way. By the way, for some plebs who don't know what waifuism means, waifuism is the dedication or love for a certain anime girl or character, at least that's what MY definition is. Okay, people are being retarded and putting rules on fantasy, isn't that the most fascinating and clever way to tell "I'm the internet Hitler" or something

Act One: When?
Waifuism dates back when the internet, is, umm...

You probably know the origin do you...
Aaaanyways, waifuism is a slang way of expressing "I like this character" or "This character is cute"

But how did it end up in this state anyways

You see, those annoying pricks who take fiction too seriously put up some rules
WAIFU AS A LIFESTYLE
Seriously, people are this dedicated stupid to think anime characters are supposed to be married. I don't care who you are, but straight up, you are stupid. I don't get it when people says "SHE'S MY WAIFU U PRICK". For the love of our God and peppy, this is FANTASY. You should properly learn how to distinguish fantasy from reality. That's one of my lessons when I was in my Elementary days.

*breathes deeply* ok, next act

Act Two: Who

Who are these people that are so obsessed with pillows with anime character printed on it 2D drawings? Who are these people that made a rule about waifuism. And they even made a goddamn movement about it

Ho-Ho-Fucking-Ho

*claps slowly*

You people are just tying yourselves with a goddamn rope. I mean, restricting yourself with fantasy is just plain bland and stupid at the same time. It's like pointing a gun at yourself and if you restrict a rule, then you shoot the gun in your head.

That's horrible, funny, pathetic, stupid, idiotic, and fascinating at the same time. Again, fantasy shouldn't be taken seriously. It's like taking false problems seriously. I just want to laugh at those people taking these seriously, next act please

Act Three: Why?

I don't get it! Why can't people differentiate FANTASY to REALITY. That's like differentiating color red to blue. They're acting like internet hitlers who just annoys the hell out of everyone in the message boards

Final Act: Your Thoughts?

To wrap this up, I'm dissapointed at these things. Sorry to tickle they're autism Lewder Reference, lol but, I just can't stand in a fucking corner seeing the word "Waifu" being beaten up and chopped into pieces. Please, enjoy having a waifu without having to restrict yourselves, it's a fiction. "REAL" humans deserve love, not being tied with an anime character 10,000 meters about sea level. Just, please

Also, I don't promise to make more, but if I see some stupid, funny, interesting things circling around anime, then I might post an AniRant about it

Leave your thoughts down here and feel free to point out my flaws, see you later, Ciao

EDIT: Since someone (*cough* "Moderator *cough*) insisted a TL;DR version of this rant, then here you go

TL;DR
LOLTROLLED

TL;DR
Try to differentiate fiction and reality. Don't treat waifuism as a religion.
piruchan
tl;dr?

and shouldn't it be here?

1. I'm too lazy

2. This isn't a confession actually, it's a rant about Waifuism
deadbeat
1 - it's fine here
b - i really can't be bothered reading all that
III - consistency is over ratted

This reminds me of the "Otaku" related parts in Gintama, for example when Hijikata says this weird line: "Maybe one day this sword will turn into a women by my bedside", he blushes while saying that (I may not have said that quote completely right).

EDIT:
Also reminds me how the term for "loli" has evolved though I still see it used in the paedophilic way on anime video sites, in this forum and in the osu! chat sometimes.

The word "Waifu" just turned into a strict term of religion and I think people should be working rather than doing rules and bashing others for breaking rules

Oh I see, well it's up to those type of people to decide whether they want to treat "waifuism" as a religion or a joke. However if it comes to the point of continuous verbal abuse then I think it should stop.

Alright, I'll do some explaining.

The whole "waifu" concept started out as an in-joke with fans of Azumanga Daioh. One of the characters says that a woman is "my waifu", and that was that. People started saying that 2D girls were their "waifu".

Then people started being more serious with the concept, buying tons of merchandise, taking pictures of themselves feeding food to their "waifu" daki or whatever. This is just an extension of the joke- there are very few who genuinely believe that these girls are real or whatever, I'm sure the vast majority simply use it as a term to describe their favourite anime girl, regardless of how much merchandise they have or whatever. Same goes for "husbando".

If you think everybody is talking about this as taking it totally seriously, then you obviously don't understand the kind of humour that is being used. People find it funny when they do absurd things as if they were completely serious.

tl;dr they're joking

You rant with the same fury as the people who protect their waifu. What difference is there? At the end, you are all the same.

Good point,

But still, there's some people that take the rules too seriously

Why bother ranting about them? They're an incredibly small minority that either have mental disorders or have simply given up on real life.

It's actually an interesting topic to come up.

I expect people to comment shit here, like some certain people won't be able to resist this thread, THIS IS OTAKU CULTURE, NOT OT

People who are genuinely obsessed with their waifu are actually shamed upon in most anime based communities, didn't you know that? It just happens that bad eggs tend stand out more than the good ones, because "outsiders" are most likely curious of them, just like how someone can't keep their eyes off a bad car accident. If you see someone who treats their waifu like a real wife, just sigh and shrug, because yelling at them will just put you at the same level, and why would you want that?

I'm not yelling, I'm just trying to put my opinion on the table

What are you so upset about good sir?
Foxtrot
I am not upset. Do I sound upset? You're the only one who sounds "upset" about this issue (and it's not even a real issue, to be honest). Do you even know what is a rant?
DaddyCoolVipper
Your thread doesn't actually make any attempt to understand these people using arguments that make sense for them, though. You essentially say "Why aren't you normal?! Normal people do all this stuff!" but that doesn't even attempt to explain how people end up thinking in this sort of way.

Don't judge the kind of person that genuinely believes in "waifus" by "normal people's standards", because they're obviously not normal, and trying to understand them like that is utterly pointless.

So you put the word "Rant" in my title as a pathetic excuse

It's just great...

I won't overthink about those people anymore. They're the minority. I'm still proud that there are some people who can take a hint on what "Fiction" is

God, would you just shut up in a corner or something

You're actually taking this thread too seriously

Who's the "upset" one now?

i feel like this thread has taken a turn for the worse. i'll unlock when things calm down a bit (a.k.a not that long)
wanna try this again without holding knifes to each others throats?

people are entitled to their own opinion/beliefs

if they want to obsess over someone fiction then it's fine

and if they're happy, you leave them the hell alone

what if someone judged you for liking monster hunter rather than mario kart 8? (lol bad example)

I can't process all of this bullshit. You talk about how much you hate weaboos and shit even though you pretty much are one.

ha

my point being again, you can't force someone to like something that's real.

if they want to grow up with their waifu or something, then so be it. it's their life and not yours.

and again, if someone is happy with what they have, you leave them the fuck alone

would you be happy if someone made a thread titled "RealLifeRant: The Marriage "Movement" or some shit like that?

no, I don't think so

I'm not against you on this one, Sonatora, I just think you're taking this way too seriously and getting a bit too butthurt about it

just live and let live you know?
Syaro

kirukashi wrote:

more like "what if someone judged you for thinking monster hunter is a gift of the heavens, writing 100 reviews on gaming sites about how much greater monster hunter is than mario kart 8, and refusing to play any game that isn't monster hunter"

it's admittedly obsessive and creepy, and people will judge you for being obsessive and creepy; the world isn't a nice bundle of flowers

i personally treat it similar to religion, in that i don't care how you go about having a waifu as long as you don't try forcing your beliefs on me i.e. constantly shoving your waifu to my face or calling my waifu a shit

"let people do what they want as long as they aren't causing harm" is an ideal which is probably good to follow, but not one everyone does
kirueggy
People are entitled to their own opinions; sure, that sounds logical.

People, however, are also entitled to not give a fuck about others opinions.

If someone wants to live their life obsessing with a fictional character, then let them be. You can think all you want about them, but as long as they're happy with said character, they probably won't even give two shits on what others think.

I can give my two cents on this but still, there a difference between people who keep this stuff to themselves and people who shove it down other people throats to make them seem such as the word "popular" on the Internet or real life. I swear in my Japanese class, we were talking about this same subject about waifus and other idiotic crap on the hand of the reason why...

My point is, how about people can keep their perverted fantasies to themselves and rather don't talk about it in the public. (Even though I did it once..) There a understanding of free-speech, but its rather nice to keep this information only in your head rather then Chris Hansen coming to their door asking you "Do you like little girls?".

Yes I know it was off-topic but I wanted to include a joke >:)

Pretty much this.

As for me, I just let others believe whatever they want. As long as it doesn't hurt me, I don't give a damn about it.
