Increase your dpi, play on the floor, put a napkin under your forearm

Either get used to playing with that arm drag, or learn to play while lifting your arm. Elevating your chair helps either way in my experience.

put lube on your forearm
xasuma
Don't touch the desk with your arm.

this is the reason why I don't use arm movement, I couldn't figure out how to stop all the friction of my arm against my desk.

I don't play on a desk, but couldn't you get an arm sleeve to help with that? Or try changing up your positioning more. Though the latter could affect your play style.
Noobsicle
you could try playing with your wrist on the desk and arm hanging off the edge in mid air

i never understood how people could play with their arms on the desk, especially with a low dpi like that

ah so people who play low dpi don't actually rest their arm on the desk.. I tried it but my arm got tired from supporting its weight.

The way he plays at 4:40-4:55 ish shows how his arm isn't touching the desk much. I think that's probably how your should play mouse.

You should try putting the right side of your wrist down on the desk and you pivot with that side of the wrist. I believe it´s effectrive and gives a wide range of movement. Moving your whole arm is tiring and unefective as it slides against the desk and it may cause you to die.

I play 400dpi and I rest my arm on the desk... but I kinda just deal with it

Get used to it. That's just how it goes with mouse. If you want to play with your hand in only 1 position the whole time, you're looking for trouble... or 2000 DPI... You need to get used to moving around if you intend on using any low DPI.

If your desk is "sticky" with a nasty varnish coating, then get a mouse pad. Save yourself having to lift your arm 10cm in the air before the flabby skin from what you call your arm finally detaches itself from the desk.

I rest my arm on the chair rest and my wrist on the mousepad,
I've tried low dpi but it's uncomfortable, either because of the friction, or the strain of having my arm hanging of the edge. I tried 2000 dpi for a day w/arm, and ended up getting a friction burn on my wrist. 400 dpi is just... I can't even hit circles. So after trying different settings, I always go back to high dpi.. even If it's not the most effective playstyle I decided to just play how I was comfortable.

Low DPI
Not Even Once.

if your arm is on the wooden desk surface (or whatever surface it is) and it's causing friction, you can just put something under it like another mouse pad or something. If even the mouspad is causing unwanted friction, well too bad and suck it up. something like a mousepad really shouldn't be affecting you at all. some surfaces understandable will start sticking if you get sweaty, but average mouse pads won't stick to you

^ This. I only play with my wrist and my arm doesn't move at all. It also gives you a lot more stamina when you play in that position. It does help to have a higher DPI, though.

Well to be honest... I don't always use my arm, but I prefer to use it on larger movements like cross-screen jumps. It's the same in other games where I prefer to navigate with my arm, but if I see a target on my screen, I aim for them with my wrist/fingers. Most of my "accurate" movement is done with the wrist and some minor adjustment with the fingers. I do still need to move my arm for other reasons too, like some interchanges between flow and snap aiming.

I think it's becoming wrong to see DPI in only two categories. There's definitely a medium category. For a long time "medium" has been considered "low," and I'd consider myself medium. I'd guess that the OP is also in this category.

Also ITT: High DPI players can't play low DPI. What's new?

it is a "legitamate" answer, right?

it works, after all

If there is enough room, try getting your elbow on the desk, it works as a good pivot point.
