Yo. Random mod from the #modreqs. I'm a beginner to Taiko modding, so this mod might not be helpful.

Oni

  1. 00:17:858 - Add a kat here. It has the same beat as 00:17:505 and 00:17:152 , so maybe it can follow the pattern.
  2. 03:10:976 (2) - Replace by a don? The way the girl said has a different tone than 03:11:152 .
Well, that's it. It's really short, since I'm a beginner.

I will split my post into several sections for better viewing.

[General]
Opinions:
  1. HP 8 way too high. There are several tricky-to-read spots, and if they are just missed, the player will fail the map (I actually failed it on my first play, I suck at reading finishers). HP 6 is spot on. The song is really long and really packed with notes so high HP shouldn't be set to a certain value, but to accommodate the gameplay, so HP 6 is imo best here. (otherwise HR is making this HP10 which is just silly to play considering the length and the amount of notes)
  2. The map's flow is very nice (except some key spots), but many sections are really repetitive, some variance could be introduced (this will be further down in the mod)
  3. The timing gets off later on.
  4. The background is in .png format. Doesn't have to be, it's quite big like that, using a .jpg reduces file size. It's also 1024x768. That's ok, but it will get cropped to widescreen anyway, so why not just use a 1366x768 or another 16:9 format?

It's off.
Starting at 05:51:564 - everything gets off. Try this timing:

The thing about keeping 170 bpm is due to the very improvised section that's over there, and while BPM does drop, it would be impossible to make it playable because of the insane SV changes. Even mathematically it's impossible to make the notes come at the same speed in that section because of rounding errors.

Now, I would really recommend to just map a spinner all they way up to the last note at 05:52:974 and just keep it there. Doing this will let you use a more accurate timing which is below:

The timing takes a huge hit after your fast and long slider, where it gets way too early and it's really noticeable. Also if you listen closely, the slowdown you mapped is quite off as well, which is why I recommend to map a spinner there, because the correct note placement is insanely terrible to play because it's really unexpected and unintuitive.

  1. 00:22:623 (1) - Big note as well?
  2. 00:42:034 (1,2,3,4,1) - ddddd is maybe more appropriate because you followed the "oh" sound with dons in this whole section.
  3. 00:44:505 (1) - Sliders bug when they are 1/4 away from a previous note, if you continue to stream from the earlier stream, you will miss all ticks so you must intentionally mistime hits to hit this correctly, which is imo a design flaw.
  4. 01:04:623 (1,1) - Good spot to introduce some variety, d K instead?
  5. 01:52:622 (1,2,1,2,3) - kkkkd? Fits better because of the high pitch sound you seemed to follow with kats occasionally.
  6. 02:04:270 (1) - Big note?
  7. 02:14:593 - Add a note? Fits nicely.
  8. 02:15:034 (3,4,5,6,1) - I would suggest to remove this, just having 2 kats at 02:15:034 - and 02:15:387 - fits the music best, and you seem to follow this sound a lot as well. Take a look at 02:26:329 (1,2,1) - for example. You could have it without finish here though, because you didn't use them until then.
  9. 02:15:564 (2) - Big note? Quite a change in volume.
  10. 02:26:858 - To be honest, this section made me fail the map. This is really hhard to read and those single dons before the big notes are a bit annoying. What you did inbetween the big notes is cool, but I can't really see a good flowing logic, except for going back and forth with patterns, while the music changes drastically from 02:29:682 - and you are mapping the same thing. While I usually don't suggest to pitch-map, you could shape patterns based on pitch here for better variety and logic in my opinion.
  11. 02:38:152 (1) - Big note here fits really well.
  12. 03:03:564 (3,4,5,6) - I don't think big notes are necessary, this section is calm and quiet, normal dons work better imo.
  13. 03:33:564 (2) - k? One should expect it at least, you used kats at that position in that whole sector.
  14. 03:59:240 (2,1,1) - dkd fits and plays better imo.
  15. 04:04:887 (2,1,1) - Same.
  16. 04:19:799 (1) - Big note? Fits really nicely.
  17. 04:34:270 - missing a note?
  18. 05:10:182 (1) - Try moving to 05:10:093 - and form a ddk. Plays and sounds better. That don double just doesn't work well imo.
  19. 05:14:152 (1,1) - For consistency, this should be a dk.
  20. 05:15:564 (1,1,2) - Inconsistency to the previous section. If you took my advice to form a ddk instead of dd kd, try that.
  21. 05:17:152 - Can add a kat here, for variety and it fits the structure profile you have in this section.
  22. 05:21:211 (1,1) - Really flow breaking, one would expect a triple here. ddk works very well. This applies to all doubles which end on a blue tick just before a finisher in this whole section.
  23. 05:38:064 (2,1) - dk plays much better
  24. 05:41:240 - It's more dramatic if you add a don here as well, connects the sections better.
  25. 05:51:564 (7,8,9,10,11,12,13) - I provided correct timing for these. But then these would play really bad. A spinner is recommended to use instead.
  26. 06:24:040 (1) - Big note?
  27. 06:43:452 (1,2,3,4,1) - ddddd instead? Because of "oh".
That's all I guess.

Thank you lolcubes for your mod! Was really helpful. I'm gonna change the timing soon. Comments in purple are those, where I need some time to think about it before I do any change. Sorry that it took so long to check it. Suddenly I was lazy. lol
General stuff has been changed or will be changed in future!

@sheela901: Didn't apply first point due to consistency with previous part, and second point since I want to to make upcoming don have a greater impact. But thank you for checking it!

In other words they are not snapped to the music properly. Just change it to a spinner and everything would be fine lol
  14. 05:54:387 - 2x scroll speed is tooooo slowww *runs*
  15. 06:45:917 - this slider is kinda bugged that players can't hit it properly like normal 1/4 or they'll miss all the ticks. Maybe delete 06:45:829 to fix it ?

Another pro map by ono k, the taiko sounds are really cool in a tnt kind of way, I really enjoyed it while playing!

Might be somewhat border case I guess, yet it should be still playable. BPM of the song isn't that fast, and an abuse of slider isn't here either, since it fits to the vocal and is emhasized with the SV change in a good way.

  1. 00:56:505 (1) - Remove this? Just seems a little forced since everything is very faint and you have the "dead" voice sample on the 1/1 later on that is very noticeable.
  2. 02:02:240 (7,8,9) - Remove these, it adds a lot to the fade-out here and I think it's pretty nice.
  3. 02:48:917 (1,1,2,1,2,3,1) - Instead of using this, why not try something else that fits a bit more. From 02:48:740 - 02:49:270 - leaving the 1/4 after empty and adding a finisher on 02:49:446 (1).
  4. 03:59:417 (1) - This was a bit awkward and out of nowhere, move this to 03:59:505 and change 03:58:887 (2) - to a d. This would keep a little consistency and variety as well as a bit better playability.
  5. 04:05:064 (1) - Move this to 04:05:152 just like the one above.
That's all I've got. Also with the new skinning changes for Taiko, how about force the TnT hitsounds in? Since not everyone uses the actual skin and uses default. Just add these to the folder and change the hitsounds to custom in the timing editor. :P

I really enjoyed the map as it is now, I really like when the maps are consistent like this one.

I can see an unused .osb file.

01:37:887 (2) - Shouldn't this be just kd k? kddk pattern opaques in some way the beat in 01:37:799 - , which corresponds to the rhythm you're following for the muic (also for consistency with 01:32:064 (1,1,1) - ). Still plays good, so it's up to you to decide.
03:10:976 (2) - This note should be removed, I think you followed vocals for this part, so this one feels a bit odd.
03:28:623 (2) - I may be wrong, but this note feels a bit more like a filler, considering you've mapped the main melody for the previous pattern and the next.
04:42:740 (2) - I think this should be a kat, this note has a high tone, like the ones where you put kats.
05:04:976 (1,1) - This SV change is just adorable www
05:54:385 - You may want to hide this barline, at first sight I thought it was unsnapped stuff untill I saw it on detail.

Amazing map as always, you could poke me whenever you feel ready.

Thanks for your mod Dake! Applied everything beside the "filler note", since it was intentional to follow a stricter don-beat, filled with some kats.

About the red line you added to omit the barline, it should be n 05:54:384 - and not in 05:54:032 - so the metronome stays correct.

It's like small cut, and that suddeny Sv changes seems to fit pretty well here.

1.5x doesn't give the same "wheeee" feeling as 2.0x, imo.
But if you want to play safer, I won't go against this.

Were surprised that Genocide checked it (rip Love). I'm sure Dake or Nwolf would repare the bubble. But before that, I have a question:
