Basically, lets say there's a map I got an S on with decent accuracy yesterday. Now I log on today, and I can barely pass the map. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

yes this happens to about 100% (give or take 0) of the people that play osu
Usually after you don't play for long time your reading skills get better :O
