00:02:232 (5) - Imperfect blanket, just use one bezier
00:03:170 (3,4) - For a light insane I would stack these. Generally I just find triples that move to be annoying to play especially in a light insane
00:03:732 (1,2,3,4) - This is a really weak curve, so I would change it up into a different pattern, or just make the curve more dramatic (because you have other sliders in the start which are more curvy than this)
00:06:170 (4,5) - Same as earlier
00:08:232 (1) - bleh
00:10:670 (2) - Lighten the angle a bit
00:11:232 (4) - Make the end of this straighten out because the start of it is straight
00:11:795 (1) - Put a little more space between 00:11:232 (4) -
00:14:045 (5,6) - I hate these tbh, they look ugly and they're confusing to read. Just Ctrl + G this

DS in general in the map is low too
  2. 00:13:482 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - I don't really like the way this plays. pull 6 out from under 5, make 2,3,4 like.. an actual movement based stream (probably like, very small spacing but not stacked) and you'll have a much more fun to play rhythm here
  3. 00:14:982 - don't really understand the break here. the breaks are just all over the place in these diffs :P
  4. 00:58:857 (2,3,4) - bad overlap with 2/4
  5. 01:23:607 (3,4) - bad flow here. try making 3 go into 4 instead of away from it :P
  6. 01:25:107 (1) - this spinner being here is.. not really making a ton of sense. why not just map the stuff under it? spinners don't really call for a ton of interaction.
  7. 01:35:420 (2,3,4) - spacing being different here than the rest of the map is weird
  8. 01:55:482 (4,5,6) - ^ there's a few other situations, but not going to list all of them. just look over it
  9. 02:01:107 (4,5,6) - this part plays awkwardly as all hell. the double vs the triple that comes up soon after makes this part super annoying to play. try sliders or something instead of that double.
  10. 03:04:482 (5) - try a repeat with this to account for the voice change. instead of making it a long slider like it is now.
  11. 03:19:482 (1) - don't like this spinner one bit. consider just mapping the stuff under it instead, this spinner doesnt' really make a ton of sense being where it is now.
  12. 03:21:357 - this break afterwards also doesn't really make a ton of sense. :(
  13. 03:45:357 (2,3,4) - seems to break flow too much, and is a generally unfun rhythm. make just make them into more triangles, the triangle pattern is better than this.
  14. 03:54:357 - get rid of this break too. the notes right after the spinner like that would be a fantastic thing to jump into, the break just makes it boring

I really dislike the amount of pattern usage in places where it doesn't warrant it. try more basic patterns and more things that like.. are just more fun. you just have jumps all over the place in this map and it's just generally not fun. there's no consistency, it just seems like constant rhythms. go look at stuff like mythol maps and stuff like that, try to base your mapping around that type of style. as the map looks right now, it just looks like a pattern/jump testing map, and that's not really something you want as a ranked thing, especially not like your first :P I'm not saying like completely remap it, but the patterns could definitely use an overhaul.

A few things; basic patterns are just that, basic. they aren't really that fun to use a lot imo and are stale due to everyone using them. This isn't even close to being like a jump training map at all. Also I dun really think that trying to emulate someone elses style is something that you should do. Imo mapping is a form of expression just like painting or writing, so how can I express myself if I semi-copy someone elses mapping style.

Hi. I wanted to have a look at this but your attitude is throwing me off, so I'll just throw some opinions in here so that you can ignore them.

For someone who believes mapping is an art, what you made is nowhere near artistic. Visually, this is honestly bad, and in terms of gameplay, it's even worse. You think your patterns are original and stuff, but really, they're just the most basic patterns, except badly made. I mean, 01:28:107 (5,6,7,8,9) - in Insane.

As an art, mapping has a whole set of unspoken rules and techniques that are known to improve the quality of a map. You cannot just choose to ignore them because you think you're above that. These techniques have been developed over the years by the entire mapping community. This goes for these "basic" patterns you're disapproving of, while attempting to use a bad version of them in your own map. Sorry if this hurts you, but you're not the Shakespeare of mapping. There are conventions, and if you don't follow them, your map will be bad. Please get off your high horse and learn to accept criticism. If all you can find to refuse a suggestion is "I think this is fine" and "no one has complained", you may want to rethink your attitude and the way you handle critics.

If you decide that you're here to learn, I will be more than happy to help you with whatever questions you have, but until then, I strongly suggest you read back through Maeglwn's mod and think about it without deciding to ignore it beforehand. Maybe read some mapping guides, or look at what works and what doesn't in other ranked maps. Being inspired by other works is good and that is how you will improve. You're free and actually encouraged to take what you like from other maps and make it your own, as long as you do not copy blindly, but unlike what you seem to think, you will never be bringing anything actually new to the mapping scene.

Although I'm probably going to get in trouble for saying something back to this, I enjoy how you tried to make it seem like I said things that I never did.

I never said this at all, I said that it was a form of EXPRESSION, I compared it to painting and writing, but there are plenty of forms of expression that aren't art.

If you look through the past mods you'll see that I willing accept plenty of criticism, but at the same time I'm not going to blindly follow someone with everything they say.

Seeing as a large amount of things that were said I should change ARE in other ranked maps I have already done this

The general tone of his mod is the reason why I was less accepting of critisicm. anything that starts the way this did gives off a negative vibe and the fact that he's saying that what he's suggesting is automatically more fun (fun is subjective) is just insulting honestly.
My attitude was a direct result of his.

It's also amazing to me that a member of the BAT can be so caustic and aggressive towards a new mapper for little reason at all. Clearly if you look through past modes I am willing to listen to criticism and change things but saying something like "My way will be more fun" or "This is hard to read and looks awful" as a reasoning to change something without any further reasoning (I am a brand new mapper after all so why would I know "unspoken rules") comes off as an elitist attitude instead of someone willing to help someone out.

Tone should change close to nothing. Criticism is criticism, and the tone of delivery does not change that (I mean, if you look at my mods, I sound rude most of the time like I did to you in my response). If there's something you do not understand, you should have asked for clarification.

(And you won't get in trouble ever, at least not with me, for replying with your opinion. If anything, I like your answering a lot more than people just going "k" and acting like they read anything. You proved my first sentence wrong by simply answering to this.)

The way you worded your answer made me think what I asserted. If I read too much into it, I apologize, but you can't quite blame me for it (or you can, feel free to). People never state what they think and I got the habit of reading between the lines. If a mod insults you, take it up to the modder, but don't be shrugged off by it - there's always something good to take out of criticism. Something being hard to read or looking awful is a valid remark (although your comment is right on the reasoning part), but I can't really see any kind of elitism in the mod. I didn't mean to appear aggressive at all though, I guess that's just the way I word things ?

If you're willing to learn these unspoken rules I referred to, I will be more than happy to help you with them. If you don't want to accept it because you think I'm a rude asshole, it's your loss, but I won't keep it against you. I agree that this Insane needs a lot of work, but you're free to choose who you want to receive help from. I would rather you refuse my help from the start instead of making me waste three hours of my time trying to give advice to someone who wasn't even listening.

Just stating my thoughts here after going through your hard.

Less triangles maybe? like after 10 of them i'm kinda done with it, do something creative, same for the line of circles you used quite a few times, switch it up a little bit because at the moment the map has 0 hard patterns (they are all rlly close together so easy to play) and 0 jumps. Then the kiai time didn't change anything to me, it might just be me but usually the kiai time should be a bit different and usually bit harder than the rest.
Overall the hard is kinda boring at the moment.

Don't bother with kudosu (not that i would get any for a comment like this) I just played through it twice.
