mostly sightreading issues since im a (former) 4k mania player so how do i learn sightreading. also for the blue and red notes i just made blue notes x and c and red notes numpad1 and numpad2 (may be other way around) so i wanna know if thats a good idea or should i do the normal way. i think what i set is better since its more similar to mania

also how to adjust to timing windows theyre so tight lol

edit: im trying to start out with alternating fingers and alternating my fingers when i feel like i can usually when its 3 of same note, i wanna develop good habits or whatever

so starting out with kkdd? many players play that style too

I took up osu!taiko after taking up Taiko no Tatsujin and transfered all my habits over (kddk, two fingers instead of four...), and I think I am not representative of the rest of players

anyway good luck ranking up

ACTUALLYYYYY riunosk is doing really stable with KDDK, and as we've seen we are in no shortage of kkdd players too. So, anywhich works just to empower your statement.

As I've written above, what's needed is actually just practise. You can't read because you haven't read enough. As for the tight snappings. They're just 1/4 mostly, and back to what I just said. It might help if you would try low SV maps just to get the feel (or use EZ mod for daily dose).

As for layouts and playstyle (Alternating or singletapping) serves nothing to your mind. As I've seen players use:

KDDK:
- Singletap
- Singletap and starts with the other hand everytime starting tight notes
- Cross tap (one hand red, the other hand blue, then alternates when tight notes)
- Alternate (dominant/non-dominant based)
- Alternate (both based)
- Brainrot (tricks all the patterns they could)

KKDD
- Both index
- One index and one middle
Haven't seen more

KDKD
The only person I know using this layout is Lightning Wyvern (was a very strong player)

Good habits you should apply:
1. Don't be a ppfied player (I ruined my gameplay and a year just isn't enough to get back to shape, now WIP)
2. Stability (it's better to be able to score 99% FC on 6* than to 93% FC 7* for comparison, and since the current taiko SR rating is so bad, you need to know what harder patterns or easier for you is enough)
3. Keep yourself comfortable at all time
4. Enjoy game
5. Finally, it's all about perfecting your own arts. Not pp. I've been in the game for 5 gens rn, and trust me pp system were never perfect and at some point I indeed have passed a 10* map in 2017. Now it's 6* lol. It's so toxic that you should really be aware of. Many players had also fell to the same pitfall fyi.

Good luck improving
