Kind of a weird question but it's something I've been wondering for a long time. I've always played osu!mania in a unconventional way- my left hand would use the ring and middle finger to hit the notes while my right hand would use the index and middle finger to hit the notes. It's kind of a finger mismatch (I'm leaving my left index finger hanging) and since I'm so used to playing like this, would it help if I changed for it to align? By that I mean, playing using index and middle fingers for each?

probably. if you wanna, do 6k/7k as you use index middle amd ring finger so you can learn how to use any finger of those
I don't really see a NEED to, unless you feel like its uncomfortable or will cause problems in the future? (Ergonomics?)
The thing I like about rhythm games is that you can kinda just find your own style and if it works it works
If you do decide to switch to the conventional way, it'll probably be a pretty quick switch considering your playtime
