Been a long time member of this site/game, and now I can't even enjoy this game anymore thanks to it getting super hightech and lagging and can't even pass spinners. Wow osu you used to be so much fun, but now it's lag and high quality everything. >:(

uh... I don't get you. Its like saying "we all should stop at windows XP, all later windows's version suck". You should clean up your PC, rather than blame it on osu!.

I don't know if you're being serious, but just in case you are, your PC must be ancient.

Get a new PC, all I can think of. Just dig some money up

windows 7
Piine
Has Windows 7 and with decent amounts of cleaning and getting new parts, it as been running smoothly

Sounds like you a trying to blame a poorly configured and/or broken PC on a game. osu! performs better than it did in any previous year, performance wise.

true fact, it runs on my old laptop that only have 800mzh, 16mb video and 512mb ram ... and it runs just a bit laggy.

"just a bit laggy" 30fps? osu is barely and barely playable on 60 fps, even 100. Unless of course you are a massive casual playing 10 bpm songs and 1 note per minute

did you know that 100fps is more than enough? and with the old laptop I got like 30 - 35fps which is still pretty good. Obviously I have something a lot better now, with unlimited fps I get almost 3000, but there is absolute no difference between 3000 and 100.

If you don't find a game fun anymore, then don't plan.
You're not doing yourself any good by complaining on the forums

More than 60 is not needed. Many displays can't even show more than that, so getting it is pointless. Also, the human eye is not able to tell that small of a difference above that. How smooth something looks is almost fully dependant on the display and the refresh rate. Movies are usually shot with 24 fps.
If 60 fps is unplayable for you, the problem lies elsewhere.

Causes a higher input latency. And yes, it is noticeable.

More than 60fps is not needed only to have more accurate graphics. Framerate also affects input latency/stability and audio latency/stability in this game.

For example, with 60fps there are cases where you won't get a 300g judgment in osu!mania even if you press with perfect timing (since you can only press up to 16ms late the key, and the random latency caused by the low framerate plus other sources of latency can go higher than that; with Hard Rock, the latency caused by low framerate alone can be higher than the timing window of 11ms, and including other sources of latency it can be impossible even if you try to compensate by pressing early). The problem is also present in the other game modes where the maximum judgment is not as strict, specially in harder maps.

With 60fps, the cursor latency is also pretty noticeable even if you are used to a 60fps screen, if your GPU is buffering frames.

Also, people can easily notice the difference between 60fps, and say, 120fps; the thing is, most people have 60fps screens, so they are used to that.
Filmed Movies can use 24fps since the exposure time of the cameras is relatively high, generating motion blur (which eliminates the "jumping", but still makes it hard to pinpoint where things are; in movies you aren't usually focusing in things that move fast across the screen); motion blur can also be generated artificially. Animated movies usually have 24fps or less, and depending on the case, can be pretty noticeable.

Your computer must be trash to lag on osu!, it's not demanding at all. Additionally, as peppy said, the current osu! is less laggier than previous builds...

Please don't descend into a thread about how the human eye can't see more than 30 frames..

also my computer sucks and I can still run osu! fine, this is no-ones fault but your own.

Someone has to make a ABX test for this.

You need an ultra high end rig to play osu! with good fps, generating circles is super graphics intensive. Anything less than SLI 780ti and you shouldn't even try.

This game isn't written by a god. It has bugs and compatibility issues, just like any other software. I'd advise OP to make a thread in the tech subforum if he/she hasn't already.
