It is very expensive, yeah. If you know how to fix stuff, I think you could get it for cheaper if you buy it in a bad condition, but it isn't always all that easy.

Yeah it took me awhile searching around ebay to get a nice thinkpad to mess around with.
Managed to get one for 60 USD (T480 S) which only had a broken dockport and a loose fan (which was easy to fix)

I ended up really liking it and now I daily drive it for school.

oh snap! it looks like an early laser mouse for Sun workstations! I think those require a special mousepad with some sort of pattern on it in order to work and those mousepads are made out of metal and glass. ya got the mousepad too or just the mouse itself?

Just the mouse, I grabbed some floppy disks too but couldn't grab the bigger stuff. Also a lot of it was burnt (they probably had a fire at some point).
There was like 4-5 dumpsters full of random equipment I would have taken everything if I could.
Could have built a functionning server from that I bet.
