It is very expensive, yeah. If you know how to fix stuff, I think you could get it for cheaper if you buy it in a bad condition, but it isn't always all that easy.

Yeah it took me awhile searching around ebay to get a nice thinkpad to mess around with.
Managed to get one for 60 USD (T480 S) which only had a broken dockport and a loose fan (which was easy to fix)

I ended up really liking it and now I daily drive it for school.
