i think its unique that something like a vtuber could become this phenomenal, however i dont think the average baseball fan will be like "holy shit guar gwura!!". the idea could've had so much potential but they fucked up
trust had they done some other sport it would've been out of the park (badum tss)Patatitta wrote:

Why though, if you don't like vtubers this is literally just 1 out of 162 regular season dodgers games this year, because there's so many games it's not uncommon to have some goofy ones. If you look at this as advertising it's pretty good. Yeah you aren't gonna go "holy shit I have to watch hololive now" but advertising barely does that, it's all about exposure. And the people that like both hololive and baseball get to have a good time.Patatitta wrote:

This is just something in general with american sports and stuff, why do you guys cheer for ads?, why are the ads in the superbowl so important?

I don't think literally anyone likes or shows interest in ads outside of the superbowl ones. The superbowl ones just have this really weird mystical property that tv culture has built up, like everyone in america watches the superbowl so every company wants to put their ads there, and somehow probably like companies and media made them feel all special.Patatitta wrote:

yeah but again, this gaw gura thing is just an advertisement, and even if I imagine replacing gura with stuff I really like, I wouldn't see myself cheering for a yuru camp ad being displayed in a baseball concertDM FOR MUTUAL wrote:

i know im most likely wrong but i think that the only people that actually like watching the sport of baseball or usa's football are people that either play the sports or are just really into it and really wanna support their teamPatatitta wrote:

This is more than just a simple advertisement though, it was billed as a collab and hololive themed stuff was happeneing throughout the whole game. I'd guess a significant chunk of the fans are hololive fans that are there because of this collab event, and of course they'd cheer. And it's also a sports thing to sing songs during a game. You play the song and people will sing, and then go whoo yeah because they sung something and at the idol they came to watch performing.Patatitta wrote:

even if it was a full yuru camp themed game, I still wouldn't really buy into it, they're just using it to sell more t-shirts or whatever, if anything, I would feel like i'm being taken advantage ofDM FOR MUTUAL wrote:

That's probably more of a you thing, I'm not even a fan of hololive and I find this pretty epic. Yeah this is an advertisement and they're selling merch but they're also providing a fun and interesting experience (at least probably, I didn't watch the game), and when it comes to hololive and baseball the consumerism merch aspect is part of that experience. A lot of people are probably also excited at the fact that more people will see something they like. I also remember reading that there's an anime con happening nearby so this is probably feeding off that anime con energy and an extension of that con for a lot of people. Also not too sure if yuru camp is the best comparison, I feel like just liking yuru camp probably doesn't turn you into a yuru camp fan in the same way liking hololive turns you into a hololive fan.Patatitta wrote:
