+1, i also am curious abt this

i must study you.... (/j, im the same as sametdze on it and it is kinda rare since i generally prefer not to swear, often for the tonal aestheticism of going without it. but if it is already part of a priv convo with a friend then i like to emulate/mirror them and follow along :>)

Probably because you were told that swearing isn't exactly nice and it has entered your mannerism to not do such a thing. It's good, though. Don't change it.

I have never cursed or used swear words in my life (I have nothing against them), and you can check that I have never done so in the forums as well, searching for whatever words you want. Reason: I don't know, I feel embarrassed, maybe I'm afraid of being judged, even if I know or think that it won't happen. But this is not a problem, as I don't feel any desire to say these things, since I have never said them anyway.

I never swear irl, idk it feels wrong to the point that if I want to swear I have to go out of my way to do it, so it ends up being easier to not swear. It feels a lot more natural to swear on the internet though.

I use swear words like any other words, they're useful to convey a message.

so you just randomly blurt out "PUTAIN!" whenever something doesn't go your way?

i think its pretty much common behavior amongst students here to spout out at least one swear word in a sentence. ofc im talking about casual daily conversation but it could also be used as small banter in a more serious convo.

As I do not have any religious affiliation, swear words are analogous to other words for me that carry a greater "punch" to them.

For example, to me 'horrible', and 'shitty' could be used interchangeably if I am talking about the quality of something being poor. "Today was horrible" means roughly the same thing as "Today was shitty".

Of course, that is not to say I completely disregard societal constructions and I usually avoid swear words not out of any personal moral conviction per se, but rather to be pleasant to those who may attach deeper moral ascriptions to these words. In that case, I would rather not swear in front of them to make them comfortable instead of forcing my own beliefs onto them and causing uncomfortable situations.

My choice to not swear in public or around people I do not know very well (or whom I know well but dislike swearing) is then more of a pragmatic choice than anything else.
