i've seen a lot of videos where young korean students do their first plastic surgery in order to fit the standards of the society if they have a body complex. i don't know if it's the truth in the country but i find it crazy that people have to go through these because of the society

i'm not talking about celebrities there since they can do whatever they want lol

I think its sad that's the case why people get it in SK, but if your doing it because you want to I don't really care. It's your body do whatever you want.

yeah
it's better if you do something that feels great for you than if you''re forced to do something that you don't want to for others

terrible reason to change your body just because you want to fit in.
But otherwise, go ahead

when you're harassed everyday because of your complex, you no longer think about your actions unfortunately

Yeah, unfortunately that would be the case for most people.
Pretty sad outcome. Would be worse if it were pushed by people you like/love in your life. Would be pretty hard to bounce back out of that

Seriously tho I'm neutral about this whole surgery thing

Like, if a person wants to possibly f up their body, why not, just don't drag me into it

idk it's their choice at the end of the day, suggesting someone to take plastic surgery is overall not very common as there is a negative connotation to plastic surgery itself, not only that, but it's EXPENSIVE AS FUCK. Sure, someone may do it out of social pressure, but I don't think that is the most common scenario, most of the times the person are more than willing to do it themselves.

You're trying to make this issue as black and white possible as "plastic surgery bad because society" but the truth I feel runs a lot deeper than that

I'm fine with plastic surgery as long as you get consent from the plastic to perform surgery on it.

Yeah you can do whatever you want with your body.

However I think most people who get plastic surgery are generally insecure because its a high cost, risky, invasive procedure that permanently changes the body. The type of person to go to that extreme is usually (but not always) desperate for a change in their life.

Plus its a bit of a coin flip on whether the person is improved or not. Its not really worth it.

it really depends on the surgery really

like if it's the rhinoplasty then why not

Then theres getting plastic surgery after a disfiguring injury.

Rhinoplasty is pretty difficult

If you don't mind someone cutting out and/or inserting bone from other parts of your body to your nose then go ahead.

This would be one case that most people find acceptable, especially if the surgery is to restore the person back to their old self

tldr: if it's because of body image issues, it's not okay
if it's because of other medical reasons, then go ahead

good. people are biologically hardwired to search for the best quality genetics possible and attractiveness ... well is scientifically proven to be the biggest indicator of quality genetics; therefore, it's the only reason that people uphold such high standards. Fixing your skeletal flaws to be seen as more attractive by people, which again attractiveness is scientifically proven to result in a better quality of life ... plastic surgery is amazing

I got double jaw surgery in 2022 as my mandible was severely retruded, ever since, I have been treated so much better by everyone, most especially I now see great results with girls, as before I was never even able to have a girl look in my direction let alone be with me.

As an ethnic (admittedly whitewashed) Korean living abroad, the prevalence of plastic surgery in Korea is pretty disheartening to me. I will say though that some people in this thread don't understand the specific dynamics of getting plastic surgery in Korea. It's so common that I don't think a Korean woman necessarily needs to even be particularly insecure to consider getting it, it's almost the norm.

and now they are blaming the other koreans who don't do plastic surgery if they have an imperfect body part

the beauty standards in sk are insane... i always think about this idol who had a nose implant then got it removed because it was causing him issues (from what i know) then was harassed because he looked "ugly"...

he looked exactly the same without it

everything basically gets worse if you're a korean idol than if you're a nobody, but social networks are so present there that you have to be as beautiful as possible even if you're not famous to avoid being harassed...

Plastic Surgery has it benefits, if there was a problem someone has that impacted their day to day life in a debilitating way (Like severe birth defects) and other conditions, I say it is perfectly fine for treatment in that regard. However, if it for insecurities. I'd say it's not the go to option to change something about Ur appearances firstly.
