hey guys

it feels weird writing this, but im just curious if theres anyone out there with a similar experience to mine.
recently im feeling like mm losing 'social skills' i dont know how to describe it, but i realized that when i was at work and needed to talk to my superior and an embarrassing thing happened that also really surprised me.

my brain just melted

i changed every word i needed to say and created others too. like 'hi boss i nee wi hi how can help tha that... *pause* i need help with a task'
This is weird because i wasnt even nervous and this is becoming WAY more common than i expect. i had this brain melt episode with my grandmother and my mother too and idk why this is happening, my brain just freezes.
its really fun when it happens when im with my friends, but at other times its really frustrating

im not writing this just to seek help on the osu forums, but im just reporting this to see if there is anyone who has or had the same problem as me and hope (or not) to help each other just relaitng this

im not expecting a response to this post

Perfectly normal. You might just be type of guy that needs time to speak, in order to be clear and concise. You can take your time writing something, rectify any part you like and stuff but not with speaking in real time. That happened to me sometimes

Thought this was post was more focused on social anxiety, i guess i had this problem too back then, where i make hiccups sometimes mid speech, but it aint so severe anymore since one of my topic in class was speech writing, i still get some errors, but it aint so bad most of the time, i guess my advice is to just keep practicing speaking, maybe like talking to your friends, and write down speeches and recite them.

i can't really relate but this sounds a lot like one of the symptoms of social anxiety

Right now, I can relate; I have this same problem talking to complete strangers.

Don't know how to help, but just thinking clearly about what you want to say before saying it helps, like Nanofranne said.

In my life it has gone the opposite way, being very introverted as I was younger and progerssively learning how to be more social, so, can't really help in reverse lmao

A couple years ago i'd totally relate to you since I had no self confidence in myself but I no longer struggle with that.

Best thing that helped me out is: meditating and being more calm as nervousness will cause you to have a brain overdrive.

Just say cba anxiety buddy. You'll get in there eventually. My brain stops functioning too when I'm in a high-pressure situation similar to yours. Anxiety is no strong foe it's literally just your usual lvl 3 rattata. u think he's powerful but ur actually inflicted with dizziness (rattata's double cleave) and it's making u think otherwise. chug ur antidote (breath) and ur good to go again lad. just watch out for those ambushes. u got this >w< !

when im in a 'panic situation', i simply freeze and take some time to come back. but this confusion with words happens commonly at unexpecteds times, like -> im playing valheim with friends and im going warn them about making a portal -> 'hey. can you can made you portal thats me' (i had a laugh crisis after that bc in portuguese is way more funny)

i probably have social anxiety, but i think this 'brain melting' is a little more speech problem than social problems... idk
idk...

I'm more inept to understanding social cues and empathizing in a more abstract, vague sense, rather then having social anxiety, so I can't relate, sorry.
Seizuqi
Honestly im the opposite, i mostly don't make mistakes when talking, i make mistakes when listening.
its honestly hilarious sometimes but can also be a pain when im having a serious conversation lol.

Autism is a retardation of understanding social cues for some, but it may be better for others. It all depends on how they were taught, despite living with autism. Otherwise, those with it are much more clueless on social clues than normal people.

I would know, because I have it myself.
sametdze
sometimes when i say a sentence i usually start dropping on a word i want to say

for example
"hi my name is uhh sa-sa-sam sametdze from the osu! forums"

usually i can break free from my stutters by swearing (autist or australian?) but usually i can't swear because i'm in an enviorment where swearing isn't allowed

for example
"hi my name is fucking sametdze from the osu! forums"
B0ii
wow there are alot of actual autistic people in here (including me)

It was scientifically proven to make our social skills much worse. It also made us more aggressive due to what we were forced to do (when most people actually didn't do it, because it was all a ruse). It was highly suspicious of what it was, since nobody could tell us what it was made of (which told us that COVID wasn't what it was chocked up to be).
