I've been playing insane songs left to right and I'm not gaining any pp.

just because it says "Insane" in the title doesn't mean the map is actually hard.
you get more points for more difficult plays.
try one of these:
I guarantee your rank will go up if you S any of those.
Until an improved star system algorithm is implemented into osu, you can use this site to judge map difficulty and find maps in the right level for you: http://osutp.net/beatmaps
good luck. and don't look at rank, it's pointless really; focus on just playing for fun and self improvement.
Anything is possible if you believe.
The new system seems to favour songs that have jumps. If you want specific maps to play, try browsing the profiles of some people of a higher rank than yourself and beating their top ranks. You can add them temporarily and use friend rankings to see the exact accuracy+mods you have to beat. Unfortunately, it only goes as far as rank 10k http://osu.ppy.sh/p/pp/?m=0&s=3&o=1&f=0&page=200 so using the websites rankings isn't preferred (the scores may be difficult to beat, but you can still try).
If you want some profiles of similar ranked people to yourself you can just browse the f9 of the client or look around multiplayer.
you still have to be placed within the first #1000 ranks or w/e it is to be able to gain ppI thought to get any decent amount of PP, you needed to get in the 1000's at least. Are there any songs that will give you much for reaching anything out of the 1000s? Not because I'm going to go do it because I'm trying to farm PP, but because I'm curious.
i've been gaining some pp from playing songs and ranking between #1000-#4000 doe
IGNORE THIS STUPID POST ._.
