Oh don't get me wrong, you absolutely can do that on other platforms, but Apple seems to have made it so dumb simple that even a non-computer individual can do it. The fact that such tech is now available elsewhere too just as easily. Take KDE Connect.Karmine wrote:
Yeah but the thing is you can also do that without Apple, it's not like they do it better than the othersWinnyace wrote:
Apple does have that advantage: Apple products work well with each other. Problem is that you need multiple of them to really take advantage of that AND they're all really expensive AND you really don't need this level of integration unless you're a professional, and even then I would argue that it isn't a necessary thing as much as a quality of life improvement.Karmine wrote:

I remember having to work with an Apple fanboy and when I asked why we had to work on Mac he was like "It's great, everything is integrated, I can even have my emails/text messages on both phone and pc, don't need to take out my phone while working etc."
The thing is I'm on Windows and have an Android phone and I can do that too pretty easily, in fact I used to before realising I'd rather have each thing in their own place (but that's just me I guess)
It's also much less relevant now than it was a decade ago considering the ubiquity of SaaS (gmail, Discord... you can even have Steam on your phone, whatever the point of that is)
It was probably a nice thing when it was new but unless you were already trapped in the Apple ecosystem it was never really worth it imo
No chance... I remember a new iphone used to come with those earbuds... not anymore. They're trying to profit as much as possible and people continue to buy it.[-Omni-] wrote:

Music is what I worked on a Mac for, back then it had Logic Pro, which is a great DAW and from what I heard there wasn't really anything as good for Windows at the timeWinnyace wrote:

Something I forgot about Apple is that the only real usecase I could think of is professional creative applications. It seems Adobe, which is the defacto standard for professional creative work, has better optimization on Macs than on Windows. For music production, everybody swears to Apple for it. I'm not sure why, to be honest why, but they all do. I guess for them, easy transfer between devices, without setup, is a nice bonus. It isn't revolutionary though and for most people, as you said, it is kinda useless.

i dont understand why apple removed the jacks. now you have to pay more for wireless just to listen to music on your phone.Jangsoodlor wrote:
The prime example of how Capitalism can gone wrong. On the plus side they have good software support and their UI is smooth af. Not to mention that they have REALLY BAD integrations outside of their ecosystems (which costs like an arm and a leg). And you have next-to-no control of you files AT ALL (at least in iPhone and iPad since I never used Macs).
Speaking of headphone jacks, I still remembered this ad from Samsung before they basically do the same things lol

If I had to guess, no wires meant a sense of luxury given. If their main headphones weren't wired, why keep having it?[-Omni-] wrote:

Wired or not, it's the same thing anyway. People need to stop buying wireless things just to feel "luxurious"Winnyace wrote:

It still is surprisingly.Winnyace wrote:

Cause "quality"/luxury ones are into the 90 to 100+ range, while mine are just skull candy.Karmine wrote:

I got some decent wired ones for 20€ like 5 years ago and still use them
That is something I don't really like about Android. It seems to depend a lot on manufacturer. I know Google supports their Pixel phones for 5 years or something like after release, which is pretty good in my opinion, but most manufacturers support, they only support their phones for 2 years or so after release.mayoneeze wrote:
I like how they offer support for outdated devices longer than Android does, my first generation iPhone SE still recieves security updates for example.

Wireless for earphones/headphones for phones does have benefit from not having a wire if you're working out, or otherwise doing a lot of physical activity. same here. i prob just dont mind wired in general but wireless not on computer is pretty niceAnaxii wrote:

I'm considering getting wireless for outside but since I still have 2 pairs of wired that work It's likely not happening anytime soonWinnyace wrote:
