Low framerate on a laptop that should be able to do much more

Hi! So I have a problem with frames on my laptop in osu!. My friend who has a worse laptop gets 800FPS while I have a laptop that's a few times better than his and I get 450FPS on all low settings and 1600x900. Things I've tried are
-changing drivers
-changing windows settings
-using an external monitor
and none of these worked. I guess I should be able to get at least stable 900FPS but !'m unable to.
My specs:
Ryzen 5 3550H
Radeon RX 560X
Radeon RX Vega 8
8GB RAM
osu! on an SSD
Windows 11 (I had 450FPS on 10 too)
It's a "gaming" laptop ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DY

Any help appreciated!

most likely because your laptop has a dedicate gpu

I found someone that fixed this by going to "Graphics Settings"(in windows)

1. click Browse and find osu!.exe, then click Add

2. click Options, and select Power Saving (or which ever has your Vega 8 graphics)

I've already done that some time back. It just added about 150fps to those 300 I had at that time

have you perhaps tried compatibility mode? in my case I have compatibility mode on and it gives me more fps.

if that does not help try using cutting edge, if that still does not do anything then try out osu!lazer. Perhaps osu!lazer will work better on your laptop.

Lazer is better in terms of FPS indeed, but I'd rather play stable right now till I can. Also the compatibility mode settings makes it worse in my case.

have you tried using the file inside of osu's directory to get a custom fps? that definitely helped me. if you don't know how it's on YouTube, here lemme get you the link. https://youtu.be/aG7dqliYUPM?si=UDjifxRVGy7O2TEI

if not I would say you might just need a better device, obviously that can't be everyone's case (I'm pretty broke so I kinda understand money situations) but investing is always a good idea. sometimes your laptop/PC just can't handle certain things, it sucks but there's not much we can do. the other thing I'd recommend is using a low poly skin, and (not sure if its possible with laptops) but update your ran to 16g and possibly updating your graphics card, again if not because money I understand; just a thought. tbh I would just upgrade my entire setup than use a laptop but that's my personal opinion. try the fps unlocker and lmk what happens.

the custom fps wouldn't help in this situation because on Optimal i have the fps cap at 960fps, so that's not limiting it. The laptop should be enough for the game too. I tinkered with all the settings I could find and I now have 700fps which satisfies me pretty much, but it still isn't all I can get.
