What difference does BPM make?

I am very confused about the fact that some stream maps with like 180 BPM are way faster and require way faster tapping than other stream maps with that same BPM
Like for example sidetracked day has 188bpm but requires way more speed than for example To The Terminus which has 189BPM, how can it have less bpm but be way faster? What is there also to take into consideration?

im not sure what you mean, since those songs both use 16th note rhythms for their runs. Was going to talk about how different songs can use different subdivisons, but thats not the case here.

probably just your imagination, and the instrumentation or intensity of the songs or strain from the map changes how fast you feel the song is.

could be the length of the streams, or even the length of the map! as your stamina depletes, it gets harder and harder to keep up with the streams

to the terminus iirc is pretty jump heavy, there are stream sections but it isn't really a stamina map

So does bpm make a difference in how fast the map can get?
I have the feeling the speed of the map or the streams are not directly relative to bpm idk if its just me being weird.
Sometimes i cant stream a map that has 180bpm but then on other maps with 180bpm its way easier to stream and i even overstream

Bpm is how fast the map is, its just you.

In your example to the terminus is very slightly faster, you have to tap 756 times per minute on 1/4 streams/bursts as opposed to the 188 bpm sidetracked day where streams are 752 times per minute.

Honestly as long as they are same time signature and relatively close bpm; it's probably the same speed in stream. Though different factors can make you feel like some maps are easier/harder (Approach rate, OD, etc.). I looked at both maps (hopefully the right mapsets) and one example I can think of is how the streams are spread out through-out the map, in sidetracked day they are pretty much in sequence, one stream starts after the other; while in to the terminus the streams are further apart from each other.

Which leads me to believe that it is possible it's just your stamina being drained quicker when executing back-to-back streams, thus why you find it more difficult to play sidetracked day compared to terminus.

The higher the bpm is, the harder the map gets
