Sorry on making another pain thread, but my right hand (tapping hand) still hurts after a long amount of break. This has been happening a few months ago, and it still won’t disappear. How long should I normally take a break, when it hurts so much?
Oh yeah, I definitely need to do that, I may go to the doctors tomorrow because today's sunday.Anaxii wrote:
You need to talk to your doctor about it first to see if you don't have anything in your right hand. If you're safe, hand exercise may be a solution to "kill" the pain when you'll play osu
Ehh, it's rather strained, luckily. It mostly hurts on the right side of my right hand (around the knuckle area). This makes it very uncomfortable to play osu (obviously), cuz I play with the index and the middle finger.dung eater wrote:
you could try self diagnosing what/why it hurts, then go from there. do stretches on both hands and see if it feels differend. limited range of motion, pain, other feelings
normally for recovery, it depends on if you are strained or injured. being strained you need to rest enough to keep recovering and not making it an injury. for injury you need to rest and not strain it much for a longer while, but light strain can be good for recovery (playing osu at all/even 1* might all be too much if it's your grip or something like that). you can google rehabilitative exercise or something.
This is what playing rhythm games does to your body 💀Happy Satoko wrote:
Go to the doctor!!! You might have to go through physical therapy or wear a brace. If you're lucky, you just need more rest, though. Fwiw, I went through physical therapy and for my injury at least (wrist, forearm, and elbow) what I was told is that it's okay to use the computer and play osu, but if I have to change position to keep it from hurting or anything like that, don't keep going. So I didn't have to quit playing, but the maps I could play were more limited. Mine was a chronic injury that I didn't see anyone about for way too long though, so it might be different for you. Definitely listen to the doctor because mine got so bad from not talking to a doctor, it started in just my wrist and eventually I couldn't even make my bed without pain, minor injuries can snowball if you ignore them. If you aren't comfortable with them or they're dismissive of you, see a different one. I still use a lot of the tools and exercises they introduced me to in PT, I think it's helped keep me from getting hurt again so it's def worth looking up online those exercises.
Well, my mother suggested that i'll rather need to put diclofenac on my right hand daily, instead of going to the doctor and if it still pains, then I'm able to go to the doctor. but thanks for telling me that. definetly need to stop playing before i end up like you aswellHappy Satoko wrote:

Happy ending though!! I got my hand strength up and learned proper stretches and exercises and I haven't had any major issues since October, despite my sessions still being pretty long and playing harder stuff than I did before. So Aireunaeus, don't let this give you bad mental! You aren't genetically doomed to get injured at a specific SR or anything like that (I've seen this mindset in some people), you'll recover and go on to get even better at the game. uwuAnaxii wrote:

Hmm that's a reasonable reason. My diet is pretty much shit lol. Just eating random things in a random span of time lol (even after eating lunch)Fxjlk wrote:

Still, my doctor advised to not to use my right hand for a week. Forgot to mention that 😭😭Happy Satoko wrote:
A week isn't so bad! You'll make it. And hey, at least you didn't have to wear one with a thumb splint, you can still use your hand :p

probably for the best, compensating for one hand by overusing the other one seems like a good way to get both of your hands messed up ;w; especially when you already have to use your other hand for everything rnAireunaeus wrote:

I would rest obviously lol. Actually, it's very hard to not use my right hand for anything. I even used it without even noticing lol. It sucks that we made an appointment during the school time period lol.Anaxii wrote:

Which is exactly what you need to do if the pain is caused by osu!Aireunaeus wrote:
Well, I can wear the brace off. It still pains though. So my doctor advised me to still use it (even at night), because the pain can't just disappear in a week. She also recommended me to chill out in osu! and play the game less.
