I tried playing in a tournament

I have learnt that I am so incredibly skill gapped that I legitimately think that for me it'll be easier to reach 3 digit than to be competitive in a tournament setting without being hard carried

Tournaments are scary

I've only played 2 tournaments which were 5USC and 5 Digit Touhou Cup (5THC). For 5USC, the tournament let a Canadian deranker in who was absolutely crazy (keep in mind it's a UNITED STATES Cup), and 5THC I could hardly play due to router problems; I also had router problems for 5USC, but I could still play for the most part.

My performance in both was alright, but derankers are absolutely crazy in tournaments, I've seen people play in a 5 digit tournament and then skyrocket to top 5k. I'd probably have a better chance getting a 500PP nomod play than actually getting a tournament badge or banner.

13th-16th place for 5USC, way higher than every thought the team would get
Didn't win a match, but losers we went 5-6 and could've won if my router was messed up (we were shocked we made quals)


In conclusion... tournaments are hard (5THC had some of the worst map pools I've ever seen in a tournament)

I alos played a tournament a while ago, I did well of course but I didn't manage to win due to derankers doing 900k on almost all the maps of the tournament...

I also didn't have the time to play osu due to work, so I gave up

got my ass handed to me in my first tournament.
Went against the person who won the whole thing. worst seed vs best seed scenario
Still going to join other tournaments for the experience. It is a fun experience as well.
Will be in a 2v2 tourney soon, I wonder how that will go.

I wouldn't mind trying a tourney at some point, but I neither have the time IRL because of my job, nor do my Osu goals align with playing in a tourney right now.

I'd have my doubts about how well I'd play, though, I'd have to be a "de-ranker" myself to play in 6-digit tourneys over 6-digit to even have a chance (unless it was some 5-digit 90-99K tourney or something).

Honestly it is not so bad.
Forces you to improve in every area. I like that kind of thing, even if I still get slapped around.
A tournament with teammates is still better in just every aspect, but solo is still fun regardless.

Mfw I signed up for 6 tourneys,

3 are gonna be waited on til everything with registrations is done, and the other 2... one of my teams passed quals and my other one is gonna play it soon. I know of 2 derankers in a few of these (One is like a 60k in the 6wc). I am gonna be real, its gonna be ass

Nah bro, I am having to be one of the HR and DT players in one tourney, the other I am having to wait for the match to know the pool. Gonna be hell, but I will go through with it. For the banner :ayamecheer:

Sometimes, the map pools can be very VERY hard for nothing and it's crazy...
