I like to play Osu! for fun and see how much I improve as each day passes~ Getting into the top 50 charts is pretty fun as well, it proves that you deserve that rank in the chart with the skills that you possess. I prefer to play competitively in multiplayer but at the same time have fun with friends and other players around the world~

I completely agree with you. But losing my rank wich i worked hard for is kinda ducked up. I wish it could go back to normal. Most of the players don't even want this change.
But oh wel... Back to topic!

I play Osu! exactly like you do. But i also really like to rank.

Kind Regards,

Why does it have to be one or the other? Most people have fun playing competitively. It's not like people are just grinding rank to be competitive for the sake of it being competitive; they can do that on any game.

i say both go hand in hand because u play osu because of the awesome anime music and stuff and 2nd for the competition of being ranked as the best in the world of osu, but personally i say i play for fun since i enjoy just the music itself and how i constant learn fast taping and moving which most games i played dont require xD

I'm not that good for playing on a competitive way, so i play for fun.

This

If one couldn't find fun in self improvement through competition, a lot of the human condition wouldn't exist.

I agree with your argument because we could play and listen music togetherly.

It's fun when you have people to compete with :)

The way you've worded the title makes it seem as if having fun and playing competitively can't happen at the same time.

Games are always meant to be played for fun and not always for being competitive with others.
In my opinion, its pointless to play if you're not having fun and just being competitive (just like playing for fame or popularity).

So balancing these two should be better.

some play for fun, some play to gain ranks, some have fun while improving/ranking. its not one or the other can be both and in my case its both.

I hate fun.

I don't even know why I still play. :l

I'm too lazy to play competitively. I guess I play just to have fun and before I know it I'm getting better.
[Ayumi]_old
I play for both, sometimes I just play to have fun, sometimes I want to rank up and I spend a lot of time playing the same music to get like #200 or something and it makes me feel great because I can see my improvement.

Depending to the mode...
Solo: play for fun
Multiplayer: play competitively with players (not really on the ranks)
strikeR
competitively
