Often watch verto videos about improvement when I'm bored, but I mostly watch xootynator and BlackDog5 (a.k.a WhiteCat) best plays because it's fun!

I rarely watch osu YouTube videos though...

ive found most osu content to be pretty boring tbh, and all the actually good ideas for content are about stuff I don't care much about.

I did used to occasionally watch koifishu, binfy and btmc a while back though.

It looks like most of osu content are about osu clips from top players' livestreams... and really don't care about that either.

this isn't gameplay or rankings smh

maybe i haven't been keeping up to date but it feels like a lot of osu youtube has been dry lately. other than cool clips/plays and occasional stream highlights, there's not much dedicated content, and if there is, its not very frequent.

im not sure exactly why it feels this way to me. perhaps its because osu has a small community, or maybe because the game is very straightforward and there's not much to cover without going in circles and repeating what someone else has done

It looks loke cpol is kind of like Circle People, a score post channel
MrSparklepants
willy and thekushvanman.

If this was a couple of years ago I would've said verto, tokaku, miraie, kachulu, spazza17, hugofrost, squashy boy, and btmc. Honestly, I don't know if it's burnout or what, but I think the YouTube osu! scene is kind of boring, especially after 2016-2020.

Once you've seen one project from a creator, you've seen them all.
Unfortunately, osu!youtube content is one in all the same and pretty stale.

I will occasionally drop by top player youtubes to kind of see what has been going on but for the most part, it's all about livestreams and osu!news from sst3w that I really care for.

This, basically.

If you aren't interested in scorepost channels (cpol), news (sst3w), or highlights (Chuuki the wolf, who I follow), then your only real option is to hope your favorite player has a good line of content. And that's usually pretty rare, I think, unless you're an Osu personality like BTMC, WhiteCat, MRekk, etc. That or it's just somebody an individual has loved to watch for quite a while. DigitalHypno made a whole Let's Play about Osu a year or two back, which is pretty interesting, but I think after that there isn't much else to squeeze as far as unique content.

There is the occasional person like me who still uploads an Osu play a day (more or less), and at that point it's up to the individual to consider if that's worth watching--and to be frank, I wouldn't blame you for not watching every single one and only focusing on my Monday uploads. I do it more for a "personal" public record (oxymoronic, I know) than anything, so having comments and/or even a single view is just a bonus.

I don't really watch scorepost videos in general, cuz it doesn't really intrigue me that someone had a 1356pp (1727pp IF FC) Play. Well, it is impressive, but can be boring sometimes.

Well anyway
I mostly watched koifishu videos because he has very entertaining ideas on how to make more content in osu. Meanwhile i also watch some top players like kariyu, zylice, binfy etc.. Lately, I've been also watching small osu content creators and they are being more entertaining than the bigger ones which is very surprising.

In terms of scorepost channels, they just aren't exciting because its mostly from the same top players 85% of the time. Sure seeing another 1200pp score is cool- oh its DT... yeah you get the idea. Its nice to see but boring since most are just another speed or DT play. Plus with Circle People being inactive for the most part any actual obscure plays that may seem cool are regulated to the actual players channels and there are thousands of them.

DT is so ridiculously ubiquitous at the highest echelon (albeit justifiably since that's the only way you'll get a lot of pp). I do see some HR or NM plays pop up every so often, but I agree it's just dull to see yet another DT play made. If cpol or others could figure out some kind of rotation (NM, DT, HR, HD, DT, something else non-DT, for example), that would be nice to break up the monotony, but that might also kill viewership for the majority of the playerbase that wants to see those DT plays.

Also, to reply to Airu's quote, you could make the argument that smaller channels need the engagement edge to attract viewers from the larger channels that can more or less skate by on name recognition alone. I would probably need to do that, but it's not like I can pop random-ass 5/6* SS's at the drop of a hat because that's likely the only thing that would get me any traction <_<.

I mean it may not gain traction, but that shouldn't be the point of scorepost channels. They are supposed to be there to post cool plays that are set by the players in the community. Now I know for a fact that there has always been a lean towards the same top players of the time for the channels and DT I won't deny it since it makes sense, but with cpol its just amplified imo. With Circle People there was atleast some variety even if it wasn't as popular as a Shige or Mrekk play. Hell the last score he posted before being inactive again was a CTB play. I want to see more variety in scoreposting channels, I am kind of tired of watching vids of the same maps but by different top players. Wish the site had a sub category in the community tab for like channels and stuff. Even if it would be ineffective it could put people out there (like the livestream tab) and provide people with more than just Speed. I don't know maybe I am just getting older and miss the early days, but rn most scorepost channels ain't it for me.

Honestly talking about osu content creators, a guy who has been coming up recently on my radar is Saow. He makes some pretty good videos, and I think a lot could be done with osu tournament-related videos. There are tons of ideas you could do for a sort of tournament channel, play them in unique ways and such.

His video where he talks about hosting an osu tournament and the whole process was pretty interesting to me and I'd love to see more videos like it. (He has more, but I've already watched them and want MORE)

I should watch him to see if it's that good, even though I know for sure that he's already making great content

Check out KubeShark, they're a new player and make videos about playing, very entertaining.

An older one I just remembered was BruhMasterL. He made vids on older players, up-and-coming players (at the time), and progress on famous maps.

HE hasn't made anything recently that I know of, likely because most of the stuff that's either known enough or worth mentioning's been talked about already. Would like to see him make short update vids, though.
