I just enjoy the game.
There is no point to compare myself to others if I am just having fun.

You might have a higher skill ceiling, or you have a harder initial time but then will improve faster. Can't know for sure unless you continue playing.

Just don't care about the others and enjoy game
Dementedjet
I mean, I myself got back to the game for improvement, and I quite frequently call myself a human skill issue (I am)

But after that I just play some more maps, because I know that I will improve and one day I will be as good as some better players

So yeah, turn that into motivation and show these suckahs what you're made out of

Don't give a shit about it.

You'll improve at your pace. THey'll improve at theirs. You can't do anything about how fast or slow they improve, and comparisons will only hurt you if you think of it that way.

The only person you have any need to compare yourself to is the you of yesterday (or the last time you played), and even then that's only if you won't get frustrated because past you was so much better/worse than present you.
Fxjlk
if they improve 4 times faster than you then just play 5 times more

Mindset is important, but it’s not everything. It’s also important to know yourself and what is currently holding you back. If you’ve tried everything you can possibly think of then comparing the differences in how a faster improving player plays / has played compared to yourself can be useful to get more ideas. It becomes toxic when you start thinking that they are just innately better and you have no “talent”. Figure out what exactly is holding you back as many times as it takes and you’ll eventually surpass them, as long as you play the right kinds of maps and push yourself (hopefully you have fun as well).

man this is too relatable. nothing you can really do because your probably genetics gapped
Fxjlk
Real gamers choose to make the game hard. You can be sad about it or you can see it for what it is.

A challenge. A gift.

If you want an easy game, its because you think being good is more fun.

Its not.

It doesn't really mean anything. As one example, I think I learn at about an average pace, but I spend so much time on low SR that I've racked up tons of hours. If someone plays too much, they'll also rack up more hours even if they're improving at the same rate day-to-day as someone with less hours. Also, someone might improve fast at the start and then hit a plateau when they get to 5* or 6*, or they might have a lot of trouble at the start but improve fast once they have the fundamentals down. Unless you're both playing the same maps, hours aren't really an accurate way to compare yourself to others. Speed isn't everything, the important thing is to keep your spirit so that you don't get burnt out. You can have the most efficient improvement method ever but if you quit the game, you won't get any better anyways.

So basically, a high total play time player doesn't mean that they're improving slower than a low total play time player, there are many factors to consider + a player that improves faster than you doesn't mean that they're going to be better than you a few years later on osu.

Accept that there are people improving faster than you and move on

Instead just focus on your own improvement or enjoy game

wait hold on

is it bad to measure by date joined instead of total playtime

both playtime and join date are bad ways to measure improvement rate.

Playtime can be faked by playing offline.

Some people quit the game or play a lot less which gives them a join date from a long time ago.

Also pp is not very accurate at measuring skill, its why derankers are such a huge "issue" for tournaments.

I've now accepted the fact that some people are improving faster cuz they probably started with hard maps. meanwhile, when I started with easier maps.
Nanofranne
It's unfortunately something you have to accept that everyone progress is not the same.
how much hours played can be irrelevant as everyone can just play offline to appear 'prodigious' after they can get back online and ready to set their top plays
rank is also quite irrelevant because you can also specialise in underrated or even niche skill sets as seen with pp such as alternating, tech, small CS, Low AR, Anti-rhythm, EZ, etc.

At the end of the day, enjoy the game to yourself and don't let these extrinsic things ruin your playing enjoyment

do not be jealous to another person that improve faster, instead use their rank for inspiration and start pp farming!

this also happened to me but i got inspired instead of being jealous

hope this trick works

Trust me I understand, I have 1.1k hours in this game and im absolute dogshit. Like I have been decaying for 6 months now despite the fact I have played 112 hours since the score that got me to my peak rank. Despite all the time I put into this game I can't even set a single pp score while I see 4 digits with like 600 hours that can set top 10 plays every session.

The way to deal with it is to never have friends in this game and ignore the fact that anyone else plays the game but you. I did that for a while until I just got over it and now I've accepted I will never get to 4 digit and never achieve my goals. My peak rank will be 13.9k forever, but its chill cus we enjoy game.

Anyways, the real way you'll probably deal with it is your osu addiction will be too strong to quit, so worrying about people improving faster wont even matter.

Not going to lie, I don't know if it's a good idea to not have friends on osu just to avoid dealing with people who improve faster or something.

Your improvement only depends on you and not on others, and it's not because you see someone with a low playtime who's higher in the global ranking than you that you will be like "Ok they're better than me; I will never achieve my goal".

At some point 4k mania just becomes how fast can you play x pattern
I enjoy the easier maps, but as you get into 5*+ its honestly boring to me and killed motivation to even train acc on the easier maps.

I do practice 7k sometimes, still not good enough for any of my plays to get into my top 100 though, think my best is a bit under 80pp.
