Can you think a good beat for the end? ;)

Just played it, it's awesome, and it destroyed my arm (in a good way) ;)

I'm disappointed by osu! not supporting composite measures like 7/8 though. The timing sections look like a mess in the editor at the Hartmann's Youkai Girl part (one of my favorites in the series..), but fortunately the markers themselves seem well timed =)...

Yes whenever i play that song messes me up the most because the timing seems off making the beat "sound" off too

Otherwise the map is just astounding i do hope it gets finished/ranked soon

A little late, but at first I had issues full submitting this (assuming it was the size + the amount of difficulties, as full submitting after the difficulties were removed worked fine).

All done. Fire away :)

Note to modders: For those who are unclear, the seperate difficulties for each song are taken (unaltered) from the Marathon difficulty, so if you wish to mod this, only "Marathon" needs to be checked.

Well, as I promised I'd mod this when it finally went pending, hehe.

[Marathon]
01:36:257 (1,3) - These aren't mirroring each other, and it seems to be what you were going for
02:00:984 (3) - Add soft whistle to start?
02:06:802 (1) - ^
02:25:712 (1) - Finish to start?
02:27:166 (1) - ^
02:26:802 (3,1) - Line these up
02:28:166 (2,3) - Maybe move 1 grid down and left to adjust for the stacking
02:49:306 (1) - Maybe adjust the points like this to have a smoother middle curve? (though I wasn't digging the overlap between 02:48:560 (2,1) - )
03:10:175 (1) - This whistle on sliderslide intentional?
03:17:629 (1) - Didn't like the curve on this slider. :x
03:19:119 (1) - ^
04:02:212 (1) - Add finish to start?
04:39:249 (1) - ^
04:45:268 (1) - I dunno why, but this feels better starting on the red tick to me. *shrug*
05:09:064 (2,3,4) - Are these where you want them? Keep the stacking in mind. The 2 slider isn't parallel with the 1 slider either, if you were going for that.
05:58:797 (1) - End this at 06:01:719 - with no hitsound or a quiet normal-hitnormal (though those have a tendancy to have an annoying pop sound at low volumes). Feels and sounds better.
06:08:356 (3) - Soft whistle on sliderslide ><
06:26:638 (1) - Aaah, and if you make is symmetrical it kills the pattern. D:
06:31:375 (1) - Maybe soft hit sounds for these parts?
06:34:533 (1) - and back to normal sounds here
06:37:691 (1) - and soft here
07:50:410 (1,1) - This... was kind of eh. The initial part of the slider felt fine, but the return into an immediate spinner felt kind of cheap. Maybe map through the spinner? Gah, but you use it later and it feels better. Maybe it's more that you used a strong-curved slider the second time? The long tilde slider maybe didn't transition into a spinner well for me. I dunno, I'm just rambling now. :P
07:56:263 (1,4) - Line these up just a tiiiny bit more.
08:09:217 (2,1) - Adjust down and right for the stack
08:19:157 (4,5,1) - Not lined up very well
08:25:302 (1,1) - You've got the feel for the trumpets, but the hit sound you chose makes it feel so incredibly off when you have the cymbal crash a beat later in the music. This ended up sounding the best while preserving some of the trumpet lead, though I dunno if you really want to do it, hehe.

09:05:684 (1) - During this part, there were a lot of missed opportunities for some good soft finish placement.
09:22:826 (1) - Hrm, maybe end with a clap instead of the double finish that's going on?
11:19:764 (3,3) - These might have a better effect if you did sliders like this (only not as lazily done :P):
12:36:747 (2,1) - Didn't like this overlap much

And that's halfwayish through. I'll get the other half later.

Love this map, played it like 10 times since I got it a week ago, amazing effort with all the songs, this final version is easier but still really enjoyable - star.

Question - would it be possible to set the Preview Points of the diffs other than [Marathon] to their respective songs? I know that's usually unrankable but perhaps it would be different because this is a medley?
Anyway, have a STAR for your efforts.

That's how I wanted to have it at first, but when you click on the map in the song select, only the preview for the first diff chosen plays. Clicking any other diff doesn't use that preview point, so for the most part it's pretty useless :(

[Marathon]
01:36:257 (1,3) - These aren't mirroring each other, and it seems to be what you were going for Fixed
02:00:984 (3) - Add soft whistle to start? Doesnt sound too great to me
02:06:802 (1) - ^ ^
02:25:712 (1) - Finish to start? Done
02:27:166 (1) - ^ Done
02:26:802 (3,1) - Line these up Fixed
02:28:166 (2,3) - Maybe move 1 grid down and left to adjust for the stacking Done (I think I budged the stack while fiddling with it)
02:49:306 (1) - Maybe adjust the points like this to have a smoother middle curve? (though I wasn't digging the overlap between) 02:48:560 (2,1) - )
Smoothed it out. I haven't done what you've done there though since it's a little asymmetrical.
03:10:175 (1) - This whistle on sliderslide intentional? Yeah :x
03:17:629 (1) - Didn't like the curve on this slider. :x Yeah, it's kinda awkward. Smoothed a bit
03:19:119 (1) - ^ ^
04:02:212 (1) - Add finish to start? Done
04:39:249 (1) - ^ ^
04:45:268 (1) - I dunno why, but this feels better starting on the red tick to me. *shrug* Agreed
05:09:064 (2,3,4) - Are these where you want them? Keep the stacking in mind. The 2 slider isn't parallel with the 1 slider either, if you were going for that. Stacking can make it look awkward, but I don't think it's too big an issue here.
05:58:797 (1) - End this at 06:01:719 - with no hitsound or a quiet normal-hitnormal (though those have a tendancy to have an annoying pop sound at low volumes). Feels and sounds better. I'll shorten it, but I'll just leave a normal soft sound on there.
06:08:356 (3) - Soft whistle on sliderslide >< Oh dear. Removed.
06:26:638 (1) - Aaah, and if you make is symmetrical it kills the pattern. D: Ohh, the sliderend is misplaced a bit. All fixed
06:31:375 (1) - Maybe soft hit sounds for these parts? Done
06:34:533 (1) - and back to normal sounds here Done
06:37:691 (1) - and soft here Done

Gah, but you use it later and it feels better. Maybe it's more that you used a strong-curved slider the second time? The long tilde slider maybe didn't transition into a spinner well for me. I dunno, I'm just rambling now. :P Hmm. I see what you mean there. I'll leave it for now since it's late when I'm checking this, but I might do something about it.
07:56:263 (1,4) - Line these up just a tiiiny bit more. Done
08:09:217 (2,1) - Adjust down and right for the stack Done
08:19:157 (4,5,1) - Not lined up very well Fixed
08:25:302 (1,1) - You've got the feel for the trumpets, but the hit sound you chose makes it feel so incredibly off when you have the cymbal crash a beat later in the music. This ended up sounding the best while preserving some of the trumpet lead, though I dunno if you really want to do it, hehe. I'm not keen on the way you've set it up there, but I see what you mean about the cymbal crashes being awkward. I've changed it so the cymbal crashes land on the trumpets. Sounds somewhat better I think.

09:05:684 (1) - During this part, there were a lot of missed opportunities for some good soft finish placement. I see what you mean, but I think it works alright how it is.
09:22:826 (1) - Hrm, maybe end with a clap instead of the double finish that's going on? Yeah. Done
11:19:764 (3,3) - These might have a better effect if you did sliders like this (only not as lazily done :P):
Agreed. Remade those.
12:36:747 (2,1) - Didn't like this overlap much Fixed
Garven
And for the next section:

04:45:360 (1) - I think you forgot to resnap the end of this when you moved it, hehe
05:13:138 - Maybe extend the break start to 05:13:323 - ?
11:43:810 (3) - Not quite stacked correctly
14:30:094 (1) - End this at 14:31:025 -
14:34:379 (1) - End this at 14:36:988 -
14:45:932 (1,3) - Not stacked quite right
15:21:709 (1) - Maybe add a soft finish?
16:19:255 (2,3,4) - Maybe readjust due to overlap from stacking?
19:13:468 (1) - Eeh. It looks kind of misaligned if it's not right with the slider track, but then it's just being covered completely. Kind of iffy with this pattern.
19:18:700 (4) - End with a finish?
19:41:375 - Was this break intentional? Feels fairly long and soon after the previous break. The music is fairly subdued, but I think it's mappable.
20:08:153 (1) - Felt like a really weird spot for a new combo.
20:36:024 (7) - Hrm, maybe add a whistle here, remove whistle from the end of 20:36:218 (1) - and add whistle at 20:37:379 (2) - ?
20:47:831 (6) - Add whistle on end
22:00:480 (4) - Not stacked properly
22:17:563 (1) - Add whistle to go with snares?
23:38:202 (3) - Remove finish on the end
23:44:435 (3) - That finish intentional?
24:32:747 (1) - Remove finish. Sounds weird. :/
24:28:072 (1,1) - Not symmetrical (easy to tell with the slider ticks)

Yay, all done~

All that with like two actual gameplay mods. =_=
Good job on this!
Don't kudosu since it's an extension of the previous mod.

Edit:

Don't forget to re-edit your main post after uploading so that forum tags actually get applied. :P

I've ditched the multiple difficulties, and just had the one Marathon difficulty. On second thoughts, I don't think they worked too well on their own (besides, it's a pain to apply fixes to them).

Still gotta fix Part 2 of Garven's post. Stay tuned
Tamix_old
I've had the old version for a while and it was one of my favorite maps, marathon or not. I just tried the remade one today, and I must say I am disappoint. Maybe because I played the old one so much, but I don't see any improvement, aside from a few parts that needed modding like the start of Kaguya's theme. To be honest, it's boring. It might be fine as an easier difficulty, but why remove the old one? Sorry, but I am just sad to see one of my favorite maps getting replaced, I really wanted it to get approved.

Of course, this is my opinion, just sayin'
Topic Starter
Doomsday
I kinda knew that would be the reaction from some.

I disliked my old one, and because of that I had practically no motivation to finish it, nor even work to get it approved, so I remapped so i'd be happy with it.

Sorry about giving up on that one. I just wasn't happy with it :(
(Kept the old one in the OP post though, so it's still available)
Pheon
Oh well, it's a shame the old diff won't be approved I guess, I would've loved to see a scorechart on it~ Maybe it could be added in the pack anyhow?
Also, I thought the older difficulty was a lot of fun too, it actually helped me with my streaming for a bit. I didn't get to play the new version to the end just yet, but it seemeed a lot easier. The reason why I liked this medley was because it was long and it was a lot of fun to play, not too easy, not too hard. -and because it's touhou. -and because fc'ing the first half of Kaguya's theme on taiko felt great.

The new difficulty seems like something I'll still overplay though~

05:13:138 - Maybe extend the break start to 05:13:323 - ? Well, haven't extended the break, but put a beat there which has done the job anyway.
11:43:810 (3) - Not quite stacked correctly Fixed
14:30:094 (1) - End this at 14:31:025 - I see what you mean, but nope
14:34:379 (1) - End this at 14:36:988 - ^
14:45:932 (1,3) - Not stacked quite right Doesn't impact me much either way, but done
15:21:709 (1) - Maybe add a soft finish? Sounds good, done
16:19:255 (2,3,4) - Maybe readjust due to overlap from stacking? Done
19:13:468 (1) - Eeh. It looks kind of misaligned if it's not right with the slider track, but then it's just being covered completely. Kind of iffy with this pattern. I've done a little rearranging here. Should be just fine now.
19:18:700 (4) - End with a finish? Nope
19:41:375 - Was this break intentional? Feels fairly long and soon after the previous break. The music is fairly subdued, but I think it's mappable. Yeah, it's a very long break, but I don't think it is worth mapping that part personally. I quite like how the break works
20:08:153 (1) - Felt like a really weird spot for a new combo. Cleared that up a bit
20:36:024 (7) - Hrm, maybe add a whistle here, remove whistle from the end of 20:36:218 (1) - and add whistle at 20:37:379 (2) - ? That works. Done
20:47:831 (6) - Add whistle on end Oh dear. Fixed
22:00:480 (4) - Not stacked properly Not sure how that happened.
22:17:563 (1) - Add whistle to go with snares? mmm, okay
23:38:202 (3) - Remove finish on the end Done
23:44:435 (3) - That finish intentional? Nope. Fixed
24:32:747 (1) - Remove finish. Sounds weird. :/ 'Kay

[General]
26 mb osz... I guess it's okay considering the song length?
ZUN.jpg isn't 4:3 - not that you ever see it beyond the thumbnail.

[SB]
Haha, when I last modded, I still had the old SB. Whoops.
13:12:197 - The transition here is kind of odd since you have the spinner covering everything, then one beat later it changes the image. Maybe extend the spinner? I dunno.
You really should have a "Thank you for playing!" image at the end during the outtro with maybe some timed glowy effects. It would be quite fitting for that final fanfare.

[Marathon]
01:01:895 - Unneeded timing section
02:09:530 (4) - Maybe raise a grid to keep a smoother curve motion?
03:38:498 (1) - Finish sounds odd on this when the phrase didn't really end, then starting the next song with the soft finish.
05:13:323 (4) - Soft finish?
07:18:763 (2) - Move this to 07:18:672 -
07:19:129 (1) - This starts late too... possibly have a different BPM timing section here? You could move them to 1/8 and they fit better and all, but I'm thinking that's going to be frowned upon, haha.
09:05:345 (9,10) - Perhaps add claps to these (since you obviously like normal whistles, hehe)? It's really hard to hear the trumpets over all the hitsounding from the stack, and the aural cue would help greatly in getting the transition from 1/4 stack to 1/2 normal stuff.
11:19:764 (3) - Forget a finish?
11:21:325 (3) - ^
13:30:197 (5) - This was kind of cruel to throw in 13 minutes into the map, haha. I was on auto-pilot mode and got a bucket full of 100s for my laziness.
14:13:322 - This section I was hitting really early on during the softer parts. It's probably due to the lack of percussion, but it was still kind of annoying seeing those 100s pop up.
...
Now I'm worried that I lost attention for the rest of the map, because I didn't notice anything else, haha. Anyway, just more crap modding here. I still wish the start of Phantom Factory was mapped. :<

Garven wrote:

It's a question of which rule to break.

If you use 80-96kbps average with vorbis, the map is of similar quality as a 128 kbps mp3.

Personally I can't tell the difference between 128 kbps mp3 and 64 kbps vorbis, but that's just me.
Garven
Yeah, I'm fine with it, but it's best to raise this now in case there needs to be more dialogue on the issue.
