I haven't seen them but for me one of the best is classroom of the elite.

My first anime watched.
Which would be SAO/Sword Art Online. I know people will say there are better, but I am too much of a nerd for the virtual reality stuff and love action.
Yes, there are more but I never got interested in the story in them nor do I watch the titles that are long as fuck.
Been 3 years since I first started watching anime, but my favorite has never changed yet

I would have to say Sword Art Online. I watched all the seasons for it and I loved it a lot.

Surprised nobody has said Steins;Gate yet.
Truly one of the anime of all times.

I will warn, the first 12 episodes feel a lot like filler, but they are SUPER important to the story. Just truck through it :)
Nuuskamuikkunen
Mawaru Penguindrum, it's an anime whose story slowly unravels to discover one of the most fascinating stories that I have ever seen. Its plot is something that very few people talk about: the aftermath of a terrorist attack and how the loss of certain people can still affect people's lives decades later. Some people might have lost their most deared ones, some might still hold grudges for the perpetrators and seek for vengeance, how innocent people end up being shunned and how some others end up invisibilized by society.

This anime is full of symbolism and references to real life events, a mystery that slowly develops, plot twists, fucked up scenes, and WTF moments... lots of them. Perfectly balanced with PENGUINS!

I recommend reading about the sarin attacks that occurred in 1995 caused by a cult before watching this anime.

might just give it a watch rn

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun

If you aren't sensitive to graphic imagery or dark themes, then I definitely recommend you to watch it. I can't go into much detail because of spoilers, but the 2nd season of Made in Abyss is the most beautiful yet the most depressing show I've ever laid my eyes upon.

The story goes with Riko and Reg adventuring down the abyss, a massive hole in the middle of an island that extends so deep it's length is unknown. The deeper you go down in the abyss, the more of it's curse will have an effect on you. If you ever try to go up in the abyss, you will experience severe pain to even death equal to how deep you've gone. Their objective is to find Riko's mother, the most well-known adventurer of the abyss, and to possibly get the answers to Reg's unkown origin.

The setting and worldbuilding is possibly the most unique and well-executed I've seen from fiction. It fully immerses you in it's world as you feel like you're journeying together with the main characters. The visuals and the scenery are just downright beautiful to look at, yet it gives you a melancholy feeling the deeper we go down in the abyss. And it's themes are exponentially given more depth through peak story and character writing, and hits even more harder than the 1st season (which was already a great show to begin with).

The Golden City of the Scorching Sun and Made in Abyss in general is an experience that will leave a lasting impact on you. If you give it a try, then you definitely won't be disappointed.

i'm a big made in abyss fan but I prefeer the bondrewd arc

however, made in abyss is the single anime/manga that made otaku, I had seen some anime before, but this one was the first one I saw and went "oh, I get this now", and then I started watching more anime, and then I read the made in abyss manga, and then I started reading more manga

it's hard for me to say if I enjoyed the bondrewd arc more since it's the one closest to my heart or because I actually believe it's the best one

made in abyss is also a easy 10/10 for me

I'll always consider the original Trigun anime to be my favorite of all time. Everything just clicked for me with this show and nothing has been able to top it for me. I'd unironically put Trigun over Berserk, Steins;Gate, or any masterpiece tier show because of how much I love it.
