Cannot type japanese characters in osu! [resolved]

Problem Details:
I can type in japanese in any other input EXCEPT when im on osu! for some reason

I can't switch out of romaji manually, or through hotkeys. Is there a pack I have to download for osu! specifically?

osu! version: 20140110.3 (latest)

I can type japanese at the game chat by pressing Alt + Shift first then alt + ` on Microsoft IME so try these.
Well it depends on the configuration.

Seems an IME issue. If you rather want a manual setting, switch to windowed mode, then set your IME manually through taskbar.
It works for me.

i ended up resolving the issue by making the resolution smaller,
