I generally quit beatmaps I'm in the middle of if I think my score will be bad and lower my rank. But I've noticed I've been getting high ranks by beating old, bad scores and my ranking is going up (worse). It this consequently because of me leaving beatmaps halfway through? Should I just play through till the end anyways? I'm pretty confused because I had a much better rank a month ago and I've only been improving O:.

The only reasons you should be loosing ranks are decay (losing ranks over time) and people beating your ranks. Your rank is not updated live so sometimes you lose/gain ranks at weird times. Keep in mind that even though you are improving, you might be doing worse on the songs rank wise because the songs are harder.
