How fast is considered too fast for someone to be a quick learner?

Why is my friend progressing so much faster than me in osu, even though we both came from an FPS background and I introduced him to the game? he has only been playing for two days and is already better than me, he's already doing hard maps while I'm still struggling with normal maps, is he just built different or should I be worried about my own progress?

have you been playing offline? your profile has almost no plays on it and your mania play is 7 years old, so nothing to judge really.

getting better is more about how much you actually consistently play than how long you've known about the game.

getting to hard maps honestly shouldnt take you too long if you spend like 30min-2hrs a day for a bit, instead of playing a map or two to warm up for an fps game or something. fps skill actually doesnt even affect your osu skill all that much (3d aim vs 2d aim + rhythm).

tl;dr: play more

It depends on what you mean by fast

Everyone's rate of progress is different. The only thing you can do about it is to work harder than your friend and be better than him.

no such thing as too fast, just play the game regardless of your subjective improvement rate
