The problem is learning with duolingo is an extremely inefficient way to learn a language, especially with japanese. You'd be better watching grammar videos on youtube or study your vocabulary with anki and such and it's at least 10x faster than duolingo, especially if you're learning it with an anime course too. Since crunchyroll's catalog is more on the action shounen side, it's not really gonna help much in everyday life since most of their vocabulary is gonna be about fighting, fantasy, magic, etc.

It's an extremely ineffecient way to learn a language and may possibly hold you back. It's a common trap that beginner language learners fall into and waste their time instead of actually using proper resources to learn their target language.

I won't participate unless I get to rule over it

Honestly don't think Duolingo is terrible. I don't personally use it and it certainly has some major flaws. If you wanna learn Japanese through anime there are far better ways to do it.

yeah I gotta admit it teaches you the basics and fundamentals but it doesn't teach you anything more than that. If you're serious about learning a language it can basically like a beginner's guide before you stop using it like a week later.
