im currently using a laptop to play osu and because of that i dont have the room to fit a whole mechanical keyboard. the keybinds i use for osu are getting a bit worn down and to prevent further damage i think getting a keypad is useful. does anyone know of any decent cheap keypad for osu? (preferably one i can purchase at best buy but online is ok too)

The best keypad you'll get at best buy is probably a $10-$20 membrane keypad but that's even if your best buy has it in-store. Idk what you're budget is or if you want a full keypad, a 2-key keypad, etc.

However, there are plenty of cheap keypads on aliexpress (quality will vary, I'd check out the most bought and make your judgment after looking at the pros and cons that each of the keypads has.)

On Amazon, I'd pick the Motospeed K2 hot-swappable for $16 as it comes with switches other than Outemu switches; from the reviews, it looks like the K2 has Kailh speed bronze switches (which means it will support most other switches, the PCB looks like will support 5-pin switches, but I can't confirm. The only problem about the K2 is the keycaps, I hear the keycaps are pretty bad.

The Sim Pad Nano is $27 and is almost exactly like the K2, but there are many more reviews on it and it will come with quality keycaps that will last a pretty long time and includes a 90-day hardware warranty (For the official Sim Pad Nano check Momokai.com)

Now if you're willing to spend $40-$50 on a keypad which is the typical price for a quality osu keypad I would choose some of the rapid trigger keypads coming out such as the Wooting UwU, the AlphaTec Helios, the FLUXPAD Keypad which was announced in the forums, or the Octa KPAD.

If you need links just DM me or something.

my budget is 25 dollars. im planning on purchasing the keypad sometime in july because what is when i have summer off (mostly) and will probably be playing more

im not really knowlegeable when it comes to keyboard stuff tbh so idk what half the stuff your saying is (what is hotswappable? what is rapid trigger?)

1. Hotswappable means you can change what type of switch the keypad has without soldering, so you can just take out the switches and put in new ones (really good if a switch happens to die.) But, switches come in two types, most of your ordinary Cherry, Gateron, and Kailh switches are 3-pin while some custom switches like Gateron Oil Kings use a 5-pin design, just something to watch out for depending on the keypad you get.

2. Rapid trigger was popularized by Wooting and their hall effect Lekker switches. Normally a switch has an actuation point where someone has to press down to a certain point for the switch to work, but rapid trigger allows the switch to be able to work as soon as someone releases from a press (this article will probably explains it way better https://next.wooting.io/post/what-is-wootings-rapid-trigger-for-analog-keyboards.) Rapid trigger is now coming to osu keypads, but they're not cheap besides the FLUXPAD keypad which is $25, but it will go over your budget due to shipping and I don't believe it is hotswappable.

If you can justify spending a couple more dollars I'd plan on getting the FLUXPAD as it comes with 2 lekker switches (rapid trigger and can be customized) an encoder knob (which I'm assuming can be customized to do different things) and Gateron red switches if you decide you don't like Lekker switches or rapid trigger. I don't think there is any keypad that is better than it at the price point. Here's the forum post community/forums/topics/1736275?n=1

osu! keypads user here, I have motospeed K2 and NanoSimpad, both keypads are good enough to play osu! however, motospeed K2 have issues with top plate being rusty overtime, yet the pcb isn't as great as to be expect though (It's 250hz polling rate btw)

And for the NanoSimpad The keypad itself is already powerful (1000hz polling rate) but to play with that keypad is only good for flat non farbric surfaces area, if you put on fabric or slippery surfaces area it might be a little bit uncomfortable

Well I own the AmusingKeypad (the local keypad on aliexpress), and I love it since it is bigger than NanoSimpad, yet more comfortable in terms of sounds and feel

about the switches, consider getting a Cherry MX brand rather than Gateron or Kailh, Cherry MX have a good build quality over Gateron/Kailh in terms of durability

if you ask me about should I get red/brown/blue switches, I will consider buy them all in a small amount to test, I play with reds because they are faster yet no barrier (bump) like brown switches does

Hopefully you can get one since they are much worth to play with in osu!
