For me, just practice.

Play a map of your choice a few times, and if you get bored of that map, go for another. Rinse and repeat and you'll get it soon enough. :3

I suggest starting with 130-150 BPM Maps usually easier to get into.

Before you start anything, you wanna take a look at here and make sure the highlighted box is not checked. This is very ciritcal.
Then, well, it's just a matter of tons of practice.
In fact, adjusting the mouse speed here should not be your first choice. The first choice is changing DPI setting of your mouse from its driver, but if you can't do that, then adjusting the speed here or in-game. This is a minor issue comparing to the highlighted box.

Hey guys, thanks alot for your answers..

To B-52, I'm actually playing with an Intuos 5 Tablet, but thanks for your tips anyway =)

I've played a fair amount of maps now, A'ing and B'ing them after a bit of practice =) Even got 2 or 3 S's =D

I guess I'll just keep at it!

Thanks again, later !

Don't use the star system to gauge the difficulty of the song...
It sucks really bad
5 star maps can be very easy or very hard

Just try more songs and find something suitable to your level..
Only you can tell wether its comfortable for yourself
Nobody else will do a better job then your own exploration

I would find maps that have the scoreboard swarmed with DT scores if you're just getting into insanes, don't spend more than 5 play count on each map either.
A key aspect to improvement is to play a large variety of maps you can that is a bit out of your comfort zone. You'll improve at a steady rate and soon develop an intuition when playing maps such as instantly reading overlaps/patterns etc.

If you can pass Hards with 85+%
try http://osu.ppy.sh/s/16600 [Hard]
After getting an A on that, I could FC most insanes.

or just play a shit ton of hards and insanes with non-cookiezi/rrtyui dt scores.

this thread was made barely a month after i started playing

as i recall back then the star system was total junk and basically everything that would be considered mid-3 star now and above was 5 stars and there were bizarre outliers like freedom dive [Another] being 4 stars because the way difficulty was calculated was a laughable; I don't think streams added any difficulty at all over an easy because the notes were so close together and only distance mattered at the time, along with arbitrary stuff like drain rate and od.

Essentially this is not only a necro, but a completely repurposed thread that isn't even following the original intent.

I would steer toward longer low 5* maps, since they tend to have fewer diff spikes and are more consistent.
