hey, I've been playing for a couple of months now, and I've advanced onto some Insane songs, but I still only have 1PP. Just wondered how you're able to improve it, as my friend has over 600 and he has no ideaa how he got them ^^ Thanks in advance

Achieving a rank in the top 1000 of a song. Says so in the wiki.
On my side to improve my pp I play insane, FC them and some time I go back at my top rankgame and improve their accuracy and rank. That helps a lot bro
Try to use Mods and FC (Perfect-Combo, No Miss) in the maps You played (And I almost forget... Mods and FC are useful for You to get Rank Above 500~ in A Map)

On the PPv2 page, it was stated that the system used the top 1000. I can only assume that most people say top 500 or so because its weighted a lot more, though I'm not entirely sure.satriobp wrote:

Ah, thanks for the help guys ^^ Yeah, I tend not to go back to songs after I complete them a couple of times, so that's probably why :l I'll go back and FC some stuff then

I think it's a good idea to go back to songs you haven't played in a while in general. Not only can you raise your rank on them, but playing them again will show how much you've improved : )Dylanj70 wrote:

The ppv1 system has had a slowly growing limit ever since it was introduced. When it was introduced it was top 500, and when peppy last updated us on the forums (which nearly a year ago BTW) it was top 648, and I think I remember him saying in chat at one point that it was at top 800. It's still growing, so I think it's safe to assume that it's somewhere around top 900/top 1000 right now (but keep in mind that these are the amount of ranks that the PP system takes into account, and not the ranks guaranteed to earn you PP. The latter varies on the map you're playing and your global rank).
The ppv2 system works more efficiently (server-side) and takes all ranks into account, but the ppv2 ranking page has been taken down as it's not finalized yet and development on it is on hiatus.

Try to get top 1000 ranks on songs. The longer the song the more PP it tends to give. Just go to some easys/normals and use HR DT and you should be able to gain alot of PP considering you only have one.
Play [Normals] and [Hards] with mods on old contested beatmaps. The good players now had previously set scores on them years ago, when they were noobs, and just beating their noob scores gives you shitloads of pp. Relative PP-gain degradation obviously isn't quite right. I got the most PP for going back and beating 2 of my [Normal] scores from when I started. Just those 2 alone gave me more than the 100 insane maps I'd played over the last month.
A lot of people already know this and that's why noone really cares about pp rank.
You're better off looking at osutp for a more accurate ranking, but it requires you to have a fair number of top50's because that's all it can track. So it's not much use until you're already pretty good at the game.
Just play the game and have fun.

They can get tracked if they were retrieved while they were top 50, then they aren't deleted even if your record is not top 50 anymore (So it's possible to get tp by getting a poor performance in a newly ranked map if your tp is not high, but if later you improve that record from #2000 to #60 the tp system would only count the #2000 record).Maav wrote:

Because of that, if you aren't good enough to get top 50 scores in Insane maps, the easiest way to get tp is waiting for a difficult map to be ranked, getting quickly a decent record on it, and then forcing a recalculation on the tp site so the score is counted (if you do that you wont get the tp until the system has calculated the difficulty of the new map).

Dunno what people hope to expect by trying to increase their rank through artificial means. I can't even be bothered fooling myself.
peppy is working on it.
I don't think the pp system will ever be perfect though. It'll still be farmable in the future, I believe, but in my opinion, someone who wishes that someone wasn't a certain rank due to farming or whatever has their full right to try to knock them down.
