If I have work, then it's usually breakfast, hot meal before going to work, hot meal at work and after work I'll eat something before going to bed. If I have a day off then it's usually breakfast, 2-3 hot meals + some snacks between dinners. I have pretty much abandoned candies but I do eat something good daily like buns or cookies.
And I haven't really been exercising lately so I have gained some mass. I really should start jogging again ;_;

Everyone should watch this. I know it's 1+ hours long but it's definitely worth it and you'll learn how your metabolism actually works and how diet will affect it.

Anyone have advice on types of food people should eat to gain weight?

Also, has anyone tried spacing out meals throughout the day rather than having 2-3 large meals in order to give he body more time to extract nutrients, or is that idea just nonsense? (I lack 2/3rd surface area of one of my intestines, so I figure maybe while they might be pointless for others, perhaps it might affect me.)

Despite eating what's probably worth 2.5 full meals a day (not including snacking), I've had it pointed out recently that i'm unhealthily underweight at 41kg/158cm. I spend roughly 1hr/day total power walking to commute to uni, so any fat pretty much get's beaten away.

Note: As I went to post this, kanye posted that video, so I'll get around to watching that tomorrow. It probably has information that answers my question and makes me look like a retard. Hoho.

Edit: Other than sugar. I intake too much of that.

If you space meals out over time, your body will speed metabolism to adapt to constant food intake throughout the course of the day. Inversely, eating nothing but 1-2 large meals every day will slow your metabolism because your body doesn't need to process the nutrients as constantly.

Basically:
3 regular meals + a few healthy snacks whenever you feel hungry - lose weight.
skip breakfast, eat 2 ridiculously large meals - gain weight.

I have been maintaining about the same weight for a few years now while still eating junk food and not exercising except for Physical education lesson which is only for 1hr.

All I do is wait for the holiday break to begin before I lose weight. Seems like holiday = less thinking due to studies = need lesser food. Resulting in me eating lesser than usual.

Somebody in my class did a seminar on that for teaching studies. It would be ridiculously hard to maintain without some serious discipline, but it'd certainly work.

My dad seems to have it down now, after trying freaky shit like the Atkins approach and his own crazy methods. When he really wants to lose weight, he'll have something along the lines of:

Poached egg on toast for breakfast
A banana for lunch
Soup or beans on toast for dinner.

That's pretty much the basis, but I don't even remember him having many snacks. Bear in mind that he works in IT, so that was enough nutrition for what he did. However, simply resisting the urge to eat much at the first sign of hunger seems to work wonders, especially because drinking water fights that urge.

I used to avoid the urge by smoking like a chimney and drink lots of water (now I only do the latter, though). Apparently anything that can burn your tastebuds will oppress appetite.

Here's what I do:

  1. Workout three times a week, making sure not to do it on consecutive days
  2. Jog on days I don't work out
  3. Take one day of the week to do nothing, basically rest
  4. Avoid junk food, make sure to eat eggs in breakfast
Sadly I've been having trouble staying away from soda thanks to my recent discovery of Dr. Pepper. I don't really watch what I eat unless it's in the no-no list. I do make an effort to consume some water, though.

0 exercise. I eat like 3-5meals a day. Haven't gained a pound since 3 years ago.

If you want gains you can workout at home. You don't even need weights unless you're serious, though in that case I'd recommend a gym instead. You might need to change your diet to get more protein and cut down on junk.

Jogging/cardio is just my way of burning calories since portions over here are huge. I don't know if you'd need that if you're just looking to pack muscle.

Not serious about gains like that LOL. Just general exercise for health but lazy + insane traffic levels and reckless drivers in my city. :-)

my diet consists of cereal in the morning & chinese food the rest of the day that's wassuppppp

No exercise, but my weight is stable. I eat at McDonalds generally once a week, and I have a 15-minute walk to do every morning to go to the university (so 30 mn back and forth).

I don't really believe in diets anyway.

I just eat when I'm hungry, no regular times or diets, Alltho for 8h a day I'm running around constantly plus jogging on my spare time so I guess I'm doing ok.

What I do:
  1. Workout 4 times a week.
  2. Take a protein shake after workout.
  3. Drink enough water every day.
  4. Stay away from bad food.
  5. Avoid drinking more than once a week.
I still have to be more disciplined with my diet though. I occasionally take fatty snacks when hanging with friends.

You could surely do on-the-spot jogging or skippy ropes. There's almost always an easy, homely way to do cardio.

I'd do loads of skipping, but there's no room in the house to use a rope. Seriously.

Drink a lot of water
Try to split my meal into many smaller meals

During a normal day
Eat heavy breakfast
Medium Lunch
Light Dinner

I also have to tell myself that junk/fast food tastes bad everytime i walk past a fast food chain or a convenience store....
Even tho its cheap and filling and not that bad in actuality in the sense of taste

I managed to convince myself not to eat the worst of the worst fast food by recalling the nasty taste three bites in, then also recalling the toilet aftermath after having a Burger King burger in the evening and before a train ride to my house. I then also recall how dry and disastrously bland one of those The M ciabatta burgers was, i.e. an unseasoned pattie with very little else to smother it.

I really need to gain weight but i'm a picky eater and I get full fast.

Sports: Not often, but somehow I managed to get one of the best marks in sport class...
I sit like the whole day.
Breakfast: Hot Chocolate, Coffee (I use RedBull instead of water), and some Bread or rice
Lunch: Depends, often a big sandwich.
Snack: Hot Chocolate
Dinner: Meat, rice, fish, salad, we eat often about 1:30h with the whole family
After dinner: Some fruits

No comment to my eating habbits... somehow I manage to be thin.
And of course... in my coffee there isn't any RedBull
Hot Chocolate is yummie :D

You don't feel that your full when you eat fast and drink cold beverage with much ice in it. That's what my parents told me xD

i have no regular basis on eating for now. i've realized something weird; my stomach is working like oblivion. i can eat all i want although i'm not hungry after a point and i don't even gain weight. i'm happy with my current weight but i want to be more agile and strong and and and mostly better looking.

i'm a long distance walker and think of going to gym for the next three months. or another three months. not sure. oh also i'm planning to start driving bicycle around.

do it. distance running and biking are the best/easiest ways to improve overall health

Implying I don't. I ride my bike about 6 hours a week, which is more than plenty.
