Intro
Hello fellow catch players o/ CTM is back for season 2, with significant changes to the rules and format! Do read more to find out if this event is meant for you :D

Registration
https://discord.gg/gsNNcxc
To register you must first be part of the Discord server, you are welcomed to join even if you do not plan to participate :) All future updates of the event will solely be announced in Discord.

General
1. This is an osu!catch team tournament, carried out in 3 vs 3 format.
2. A team must have 4-6 players, there is no rank or region limitation.
3. The tournament aims to have a minimum of 27 teams.
4. The tournament aims to be badged, if badge application takes more than 3 weeks it may go unbadged.
5. The tournament aims to officially begin its first round before end of this year.
6. The tournament aims to last no more than 8 weeks counting from the first round (inclusive).
7. The default scoring mode is Score_v2, unless specified otherwise.
8. The default mod of NF is to be equipped for all maps, unless specified otherwise.
9. Registration will close 7 days after hitting 27 teams, this may be revised.
10. Please observe general etiquette and sportsmanship, unruly behaviors will not be tolerated.

Stages
1. Seeding
2. Elimination
3. RO27
4. RO18
5. RO12
6. RO8
7. RO4
8. Specials

1a) Teams will play the required maps without opponents, though still in multiplayer lobbies.
1b) Teams will be ranked according to metrics (explained in Map Pool section afterwards).
1c) Some number of bottom performing teams (to be decided) will play in the Elimination stage, other teams will skip a week i.e. promoted to RO27 straightaway.

2a) Bracket structure of Elimination stage will be decided closer to the date, if required.
2b) Enough teams will be eliminated so that there will only be 27 teams remaining in the tournament, including those that were promoted in Seeding stage.

3-5a) From RO27 to RO12, the teams will be organized into groups of 3 i.e. triplet bracket.
3-5b) Each team will play every other team in their group, therefore each team plays 2 other teams every weekend.
3-5c) Each group will consist teams of different seeds, seeding is decided by the performance of the previous round.
3-5d) Top 2 winning teams of each group will proceed to the next round, remaining team(s) will be eliminated from tournament.
3-5e) Previous feature of top team being allowed to choose their matchups is no longer in use, group compositions will be decided randomly every stage while following seed arrangements.

6-7a) For RO8 and RO12, the teams will be organized into groups of 4 i.e. quadruplet bracket.
6-7b-e) Same logic goes, each team plays 3 other teams now, random groups and seeding arrangement still applies, top 2 teams from each group advance from RO8 to RO4, where the final 1st-4th positions will be decided.

8a) Depending on the reception of the tournament and other factors, a special stage can be included.
8b) Details of this stage will be ironed out closer to the date.

Mappools
1. The tournament will use the concept of Mapsets, differing from traditional ideas of a fixed Mappool.
2. Each stage will feature some number of default maps and additional maps.
3. Teams will bid and ban for what maps they want included, in their upcoming matches against other teams.
4. In short, teams will be able to customize their own mappools from a larger set of maps each stage, abiding by some rules of course.
5. Details of this new concept and all its rules are difficult to explain in words, join the Discord to view and discuss demo examples for better understanding.
6. Each map will hold different points, unlike traditional tournaments where very map win counts as 1 point.

7. Mods and points:
- 3x NM (of which, 1x 6pts, 1x 8pts, 1x 10pts)
- 3x HD (same as above, 6/8/10)
- 3x HR (6/8/10)
- 3x DT (6/8/10)
- 3x FM (6/8/10), FM stands for FreeMod, where teams can equip any available mods including HT/DT/NC, to their own advantage.
- 1x EZ (8)
- 1x FL (8)
- 1x EC (4), EC stands for "Eccentric", i.e. unusual mod combinations or weird maps.
- 1x DC (X), DC stands for "Decider", this map will be played first every match unless stated otherwise, it will not count towards any points. Winner of this map is taken to be the winner of the "roll" in traditional sense.
- 1x TB (X), TB will be played when either team has the chance to win any next map, winner of TB wins match. Draws are allowed in TB, match will concluded as 1 win for both teams.
- 20 maps in total for every stage.

8. On all maps outside of NM, all players are allowed to equip HD alongside whichever mods required.
9. To reiterate, NF is to be equipped at all times unless specified otherwise.
10. The above map pool structure may vary slightly depending on the stage and other factors, again for further clarification join the Discord server to understand more.

Matches
1. Referees will invite team captains into their match lobbies.
2. Warm ups may or may not be applicable.
3. DC is first played, winner gets to decide if they pick first or pick second.
4. Loser of the map will take HP damage equals to the points of the map.
5. Map picking will alternate, until a winner is decided or the TB condition is met.
6. Winning is defined as reducing the amount of HP of the opponent team to 0 or less first.

7. The amount of HP each team has will largely follow:
- Seeding (inapplicable)
- Elimination (50)
- RO27 (50)
- RO18 (60)
- RO12 (60)
- RO8 (70)
- RO4 (70)
- Specials (whichever)

8. HP per stage of course tentative and subjected to change.
9. Scheduling will largely consider the UTC of the teams, though do expect difficult timings if there is too much difference within the team or too far apart from the opponents.
10. Rescheduling is acceptable as long as the team captains agree, and a referee is available for the rescheduled match.
11. Matches will be streamed according to availability of streamers and interests of viewers.
12. Streaming will be done on either Twitch or YouTube, to be decided.

Magic
1. Unlike the first iteration of CTM, the spells available will be decided by what artefacts you hold.
2. Artefacts can be decided by teams during the week, each artefact has unique properties (e.g. DT buff in FM from x1.06 to x1.12), and its own set of spells you can cast. More to be revealed in the future through Discord.
3. Concept of SP is removed, teams can cast whichever spells they are allowed to at whatever time/frequency, as according to how the spell can/cannot be used.
4. Upgrades to spells is also no longer applicable, since all spells are available as to the artefacts.
5. Properties and use cases of artefacts and spells are highly subjected to revisions for obvious reasons, do not be alarmed if such changes occur suddenly without the teams' consent.

Prizes
1. Badge (if successful) to 1st place team.
2. Some amount of supporters for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, possibly 4th. Could include or be interchangeable with other forms of rewards, to be decided.
3. Possibly include MVP rewards, or rewards for other outstanding individuals.
4. Special stage participants could be receiving additional rewards.
5. Excellent staffs may also stand to receive rewards.

Staffs
It is recommended that one person adopt no more than 3 roles.

1. Co-host/Admin (1-2)
2. Referee (12+, diverse timezones)
3. Mapsetter (2-4)
4. Scheduler (2-3)
5. Statistician (1-2)
6. Streamer (5+, diverse timezones)
7. Commentator (5+, diverse timezones)
8. Designer (1-2)
9. Miscellaneous (0+)

Sign up through Discord as always.

Caveat
This tournament may not be suitable for players who are:
1. Attest to concepts that are drastically different from conventional ones, or wearisome of unproven ways of doing things.
2. Committed to many other tournaments meanwhile, or for any reasons largely unable to commit consistently during weekends.
3. Find it unacceptable to lose despite being the better player/team.
4. At its core in many aspects, this tournament will largely side with prioritizing novelty and excitement over the selection of strongest. There will be intentional compromise of long held tournament beliefs just for the sake of being unconventional.
5. Complaints are more than welcomed and will absolutely not be shunned or be disregarded just cuz, albeit not aimed at hurting people. Nevertheless please refrain from referencing how other tournaments did this and that, and solely based on those, concludes something about this tournament that ought to follow those other ways.
6. As a result of it being purposely new on many fronts, things are very subjected to change. If you are likely to be unsettled by sudden and frequent changes, this may not be enjoyable for you.

Conclusion
With everything said, if you feel like taking on something starkly different, do click the Discord link at the beginning of this post and join us in this bizarre adventure of Catch The Magic 2! :D See you there o/
