I'm not sure if the naming of this subforum was intentional, but I feel like learning about the era of music hall music is interesting.

I am definitely no expert, but essentially what music halls were, were british 'vaudevilles' that normally showcased short comedic songs/acts.

Perhaps the reason I enjoy Music Hall tunes so much is the cross between acting and operatic/classical singing. It could be considered 'early musical theatre'. One of my favourite songs from this era is "Why am I Always the Bridesmaid" sung my Lily Morris. Here is a video recording of her in action!

It's quite phenomenal and surreal to see film so old, and it must have been enchanting to be in the audience at the time.

What are your thoughts? Is this type of music good or bad? Do you prefer older music hall songs, or newer more contemporary musical theatre songs? (Hamilton, Six, Mean girls, etc...)
