i'm hovering since when i got my tab and i think it's better for the pen ^^

I drag, and to avoid excessive tablet/ nib wear, I taped a piece of clear plastic (an overhead sheet) around my tablet tightly. I havent had to replace a tip yet, but I suppose it will wear out eventually... Just not anytime soon.

I did that too, and it's actually working.

I hover, but I keep the pen close to the tab so occasionally it touches the tab. With mouse disabled ofcourse

I hover. Course my hand was shaking my first time trying the "hover" method, but after 4 hours I got used to it.
synchroblst
I tap on my screen, but I have a screen protector on so I'm not too worried about getting it scratched (there are slightly noticable scratchmarks from spinners though... ). The pen nib is slightly worn after ~4 months of play, but its still usable for everything i can throw at it. I tap as much as I can, except the occasional map with heavy deathstreams.

i usually hover, but i drag during spinners.

i used to hover spinners too, but sometimes the pen goes out of tablet's range and break my spinning.

i hover but my hand rests on the tablet, which causes a lot of trouble since it limits my movement=w=;;;
so i always wear a jacket so i can glide my hand as much as i want on the tablet.......bad thing is that I get so hot when i play during summer...

maybe adjust the active area so you can keep your wrist in one place?

lol you don't need to wear the jacket...

I put my wrist bone on the table and I slip in a piece of soft towel under. I fold the towel at least twice so that there're 4 layers. This allows me to glide short distance without much friction, cause the towel layers are rubbing against each others when I move instead of my wrist taking the full impact.

i tried, but i prefer a bigger active area, feels more natural o3o;

guys i just tried hovering and i found it very fiteeging compared to drags

I drag but might start hovering or at least try, dont really wanna completely ruin my pen within just weeks of having it.

However dragging feels better imo, you get the "feedback" when touching the tablet, feels more natural to me.

Hello everyone, I just recently made the switch over from keyboard and mouse to keyboard and tablet and I have a few questions, if you guys can help me.

!. How can I disable the feature of clicking on the tablet, so I can just drag my pen on tablet itself ?
2. Do you normally use the default mapping surface area or do you reduce it to your liking, because it feels like I'm moving around too much.
3. Since hovering seems to be the general way of playing ( looking at the results) , how can you feel when your pen comes up to much, without looking down ? Can you just naturally feel it or you hold your pen in a certain way to help alert you when you're coming up too high?

Well Cookiezi use to drag :P

1. Press F10 in game to disable clicks
2. I use around 2/3 of my tablet, but everyone is different so find what feels best to you
3. I used to have a bit of trouble with taking my pen too far away from the tablet when I first started but over time I stopped doing it by accident.

Basically just press F10 and play more.

I hover.

I don't really like the resistance when dragging.

Always been hovering since I started tablet. I tried dragging once but it feels so slow plus I don't want to kill the nibs :)
daredakke
I drag, feels more stable than hovering for me and since the area I use for osu! is worn smooth there's little resistance. I don't press too hard and my nibs last for quite a long time.

Still, dragging sounds like such a rough term, feels more like gliding across the surface to me.

So... I wish I could hover.

I got my wacom tablet in early January.

teasp00n I think next time it'd be better if you removed the nib when you're playing.

You probably got extra nibs with it. You might wanna replace it. If it's even possible now that is.
rev3rsor
I don't play much with my tablet/at all any more because I have stuff to do, but with the week or two I've had my osu!tablet I feel more natural dragging since it feels more like writing normally. I guess it'd be better for me since I don't play too frequently though.
Mythras
learned to hover in about a month of suffering and being annoyed by it, i like how it makes no noise
vsprite
i hover and tap

but i have a good tablet pen so i also set the nib to off so that it doesnt register on the tablet.

I got the cheapest version so i couldnt change nibs on it. But it says on the box that is should be extra nibs :S weird.

But it still works fine :P

They're under the pen holder.

Does anyone else find tapping just having inconsistent performance in general 0 0, sometimes I can do songs beyond my level sometimes I just cant hit anything for my life =-=
DENKOUSEKKA
Voted for Hovering because I'm way better when hovering

I'm not sure about tapping being inconsistent. I end up tapping when I'm jumping and drag during spinners, it's a habit. I don't know which one to vote for :/

Well you've destroyed your pen completely it seems so it might not work, but you place your pen nib into the metal hole on the back, put the pen at an angle and pull.

Actually I removed the nib since I really love to draw and don't want to waste it on a goddamn game, and the results were pretty neat... it literally shaved off a portion of my pen from all the dragging, but it doesn't cripple me in any way, it's just aesthetically displeasing.
vsprite
I pity those with 1 nib, mine came with 10 spares :)
Hell
yeah i use a mouse where is that option
gosho09
I started out by dragging but pressed too hard and thought I would damage the tablet and continued hovering, but a couple of months later switched back to dragging. I find it much difficult to hit accurately while hovering and my spinning is much worse. In my opinion, if you drag lightly, you wouldn't have hardware problems. Instead of nibs I use something I thought would be wrong but am actually pretty satisfied with - grass trimmer line. It feels better for me, it is much cheaper, can find it anywhere and lasts longer, I think.
