catfish is kind of derogatory over here in america, since it's someone who purposefully baits others into believing that they're someone else.
also, usernames are meant to not give out any information about who you are.
wanted to build on this. generally, when you don't know who some one is, take the safe route with "they/them" pronouns. that also helps if someone happens to be non-binary (a gender identity other than male/female), so yeah.
practice that for future reference!
