I think I remember hearing that's it's best to start with the most low level of the basics; the skeleton. While not as much fun, I think you're supposed to start with drawing skeletons, then move on to fleshed-out people, then go from therefailboat wrote:

The shape of the skeleton isn't as important as knowing what bits are straight and what bits bend. Meaning, you don't have to know what the bones themselves look like, since you never actually see them. What's more important is the meat that's slapped on to the bones - the musculature. Looking at a body with the skin removed and drawing the muscles is pretty educational.awp wrote:
