we really need this Q_Q

Shooted a few stars. If somebody has any idea of how should it look like, it'd be useful for developers to have some help via images/coding. That'd sure accelerate the process!
Seph
Imo it would be just really simple, sliders would be the same except its shown as fruits. Though the only thing that will bother me is how the spinner would look like..
Zak
Spinners should probably look the same in the editor and people will just have to test in order to see what it looks like as always, not that troubling imo
Kurokami
Okay, I will do an idea image, but it will be almost the same as now. It should be something like a mixed mania+standard editor. o.o
Seijiro
I think it should be fair to implement the ctb editor, since it's the only mode that hasn't one. Support +1

Okay, I need a new post since someone posted after mine. q.q I made it in like ~30 min so its kinda shit but I will provide the .psd file too if someone has another idea for editing. I add a description bellow the image for every text which is appear on the image to make this post better. \o/ Also it should be working with 4:3 too, I just used my own res to edit.

SPOILER

Alternate Spinner Forms: Its because CtB has more spinner overlay and when osu! handle it it appears randomly, well at least it stays the same, but sometimes it ruins the patterns since it needs a testplay to place the objects after/before it at the best possible place. And its annoying if the map has many spinners. So it should be an overlay? option just like combo colors have to be able to choose which one do you want to use.

End of the Screen: This is optional, but since maybe with this the grid will be a bit useless it will be hard to know where the screen ends and offscreen fruits are just crazy. o.o So it should be something which reminds the mapper about where are him/her at.

Timing Points: I'm not sure if this really needs describeing since they should be the same as above on the timeline but this way you just only need to watch in the middle to know where will you place that note on the timeline. And also you can see everything in realtime w/o testing it (well it will still required).

Scrollbar: This is really an optional stuff since maybe it isn't really necessary, but it will be good to see where are you at w/o looking at the bottom which is I think its kinda disturbing. And other option is to place the bottom line (I dunno it's name) at the right side of the grid. Well this whole option is mainly works only for 16:9 but maybe it can be added for 4:3 too.

If someone can do one more image with some fruits I think the idea will speak for itself (I don't have the original skin to do it).

I know the lines are kinda stacked but a zoom is also an option and I just made it like this for better imagining. I'm not sure if making the fruits smaller in the editor will work but thats another optional thing to be able to add more timeline portion inside the grid (I think if it will looks like I made it it should be enough too, I don't think we really need more).

Anyone wants to change something or add his/her own idea just go ahead. Here is the .psd to do it.
I hope it looks good enough. o.o

420 stars

its a sign this must happen

if a developer is willing to work on it that is
Zak
The only thing I don't see happening is a way to change spinners around as it's always been auto-generated and changes based on where the notes before it are placed. I actually notice the patterns in spinners have changed in some maps while they were pending as the mappers made changes and don't know if anyone willing to code the editor would want to take the time to re-code spinners for ctb along with the editor, I just hope we can at least get the editor though as it will make mapping so much easier.

I updated a bit the OP to get it a bit more organized, seeing what others suggested through the thread. Spammed some more stars.

almost 1 month and no new answer .-.... let's keep waiting

meanwhile i support this idea with 2 more stars in the sky and now they are more than 500 :P

i hope this can be implemented

I believe this will be useful and wonderful editing tool for CtB mapping.

This rq is already 10 months and still not being implemented '_' I think it's great and comfy :D

Removal of the value of the vertical distance of the notes, as it's likely useless in order to make a CTB diff (in fact, only the horizontal distance matters)
I still don't get why this hasn't been added, as it's pretty simple.
Zak
This is beyond important, we need more people to notice this.
CelegaS
Peppy add that editor plz. We need it to do better map.

700 stars swag. We need this imo!

Bump this one!
Zak
Can someone who can actually say whether this can or can't happen say something? It just keeps gaining SP with no indication if anyone cares.
I see even more of a reason for us to finally get our own editor though, as Osu!mania is getting a NEW editor soon (Haven't looked for the post about it, but I've heard it was confirmed.) and I think it's really unfair for CtB to get ignored like this.
Hunter Howl
no offense, peppy. just wondering why :3
Factorial
I think that the no. of bananas is based on the beat snap divisor. But I've seen on some beatmaps that it is doubled. I can't find out how? (Screenshot tom.)
Zak
Bringing up 5 years ago really isn't viable as reasoning to be honest, things change. It's been 5 years since then and a new mode has been added, and if a new mode can have it's own special editor, and if it really is getting a brand new one as well why the hell can't we? CtB matters as a mode just as much and I think we deserve something that will make it easier for us to map. People might bring up Taiko not having one but that relies solely on hitsounds for mapping so they don't really need their own editor just for that as it's fairly easy to map like that.
Yukiteru Amano
What Zak said. :) 5 years is a long time!
Deif
I don't belong to the dev, but I guess smoogipooo is the one you should ask to, since he's one of the most active guys there atm according to the updates log.

well, i guess it's up to the peppy. if he agrees then so it be `-` got nothing more to say about this
Oinari-sama
You guys are not helping peppy out at all. I think it's time to put the thread back on track...

osu! is not a "design by public opinion" project; ie just because an idea has lots of support it doesn't mean that the devs are obligated to add it.

If you think an idea really deserves to be added, you'll have to elaborate on why and how the idea can be implemented. Help the devs, tempt the devs whenever possible.

That's why most of the time single word comments like "bump" or "support" means absolutely nothing to the progress. Instead, focus the discussions on how you see an idea can be implemented.

Don't be afraid to provide details; if peppy doesn't like something he'll say it (guaranteed).

Lastly, if a topic is not marked in anyway (eg [denied]/[invalid]/resolved]/[duplicate]) then it's still valid. Some ideas are easy to implement while others require more thoughts. Such feature can take a long time to come to fruition.

Just keep the discussions going for how to implement the ideas. If the devs have something to say, they'll come out to say it.
Granger
I have a idea how the spinners could be done.

Instead of placing templates of spinners you place a main line (thats where the bananas are the most dense) as slider.
Then you select this slider and use a new "Convert slider to spinner" tool. The conversion works in 2 steps, first it adds noise over the entire slider duration, then it converts the slider body into a line of fruits and disorts it. This tool gives you various sliders and opptions:

Noise Density
Simply put, the higher this slider is, the more bananas appear overall, spread troughout the entire spinner, ignoring your main line.

Noise Disortion Min/Max
This is a type in option, you define 2 values, min and max. Minimum determines how far the fruits minimally have to be from each other, can not be higher than maximum. Maximum determines the highest distance 2 fruits can have from each other, can not be lower than minimum.

With these 2 options you can define how hard the spinner is to read and how it looks.

Line Density
A slider option. Defines how dense the fruits from the slider are, higher Density gives more fruits.

Line Disortion Min/Max
Similary to the noise disortion, this is a type in option and lets you define how and how far this line is spread and disorted.

With these options you can define how hard it is to follow the line with the most fruits and how it looks.
Image examples:
SPOILER
Our slider before the conversion:

Step one, applying noise and altering it density:

(cant define disortion with this noise tool so ill skip that :( )

Step two, coverting the slider:

and changing its density and disortion:
The images are a bit bad, but i think you get the idea.

Well last night I was told that they do plan on eventually getting around to an editor, but the dev team is so small that they have to finish other things first before they can get to it, so I guess we don't need to keep dumping stars and saying the same things, it seems they don't really notice this thread but they should finally get around to it in the future after they finish fixing up osu!mania stuff and other projects that have high priority.
Serendipity
Hey friends,

Coming from my initial post > p/3398078#p3398078

I give you all my remaining votes on this.

We really need an editor for CTB, considering how auto-converted maps got some really akward patterns...
ikzune
i dont know if its already been mentioned here however smoogi is already planning an overhaul of both the taiko and ctb editors after the mania editor is complete however dont expect it to be completed any time soon, the estimate of when manias editor is finished is by the end of this year of sometime next year

I just read through this whole thread and to my surprise couldn't find this idea I have that would only be for the CTB Editor.

The option to change fruit colors! /'v'/
Currently in CTB fruit colors cycle, just like the way combo colors cycle in standard.
However, in CTB fruit colors have nothing to do with new combos.
Putting in an option to change fruit color just like how standard has an option to change new combo colors except for the one that was just used could be a great addition if there is a CTB Editor!
