As mentioned in that thread, the major problem with having any idea like this is that it can be easily abused. For example someone could pause right before a difficult jump, reposition the cursor after unpausing and then end up in the right place.
Will have to deny unless someone can come up with a solution for this problem. (You could make it so they can't move the mouse after they unpause and wait for 3 seconds, but then why not just use the current method).
