Well, this is mainly for osu!mania, but a few people may think this idea good in other modes.
In osu!mania, a great deal of songs are key-sounded. That means the song (BGM) itself is incomplete without these hitsound on the notes.
You may have noticed the "only my raligun" song: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/63089
When you are listening to the MX difficulties, did you mention that the song is incomplete?
Though in this map, the song is not fully key-sounded, but I have a few examples (especially most BMS songs) have nearly nothing in background like https://osu.ppy.sh/s/79377
As current osu! doesn't have ability to play hitsounds in preview mode (And it is unnecessary for other modes), the simpliest way to make these key-sounded songs' preview meaningful is to first record a perfect play song and make the song, but not the BGM, as the preview song.
(One of the other solution is to play the song and hitsound together at preview - used in LR2 , but it is costly and players may wait up to 20s to get the preview.)

What do you think? :D

It is a good idea, but I don't think people would do this just for osu!mania, because most charts are for all playmodes.
Also I think this may be abused by some people, because you would be able to preview a complete different song then.

Hitsounds are made to follow the song or add something ~more~ to the song, making it a bit different or better, but never to ~complete~ the song.
If this happens on other games, cool, but I think it won't happen on osu!
The original mp3 itself is totally enough, plus adding more files will obviously make the osz size bigger.
Marcin
Yeah because adding 96kbps 20 sec. mp3 file, would make it a lot bigger.

I don't find this useful enough to add. It will also conflict with preview time requirements. I wont tag, but I don't think it will happen.

Though in osu!mania, we usually use hitsounds to complete the song. it is very common: consider these examples above.
Maybe we may enable this feature only in osu!mania, and let BAT/MAT to make final decisions whether a map should use this feature.
But trust me , when you listen to a completely blank preview, you may see this feature useful.
chonicle
just an example:
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/72041
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/78001

The chart itself is not complete /.\
TOKI
In mania, the mp3 is always not the FULL music for hitsound containing some instrument element.
I've made a beatmap, and the mp3 is nearly blank except some bass. That's nonsense for previewing. x.x

My o2jam maps need this.

Ew, it'd not even be half a megabyte as a 20 second 192kbps CBR joint stereo mp3. Assuming this feature would work for the song selection screen and not just web previews, it'd be more reasonable to source the web preview from a higher bitrate file ingame and then transcode it automatically for the web preview like it normally does.
theowest
but I like to loop songs on my song select. Isn't it best to be able to listen to the whole thing. You're suppose to play the entire beatmap, not just a 20 second part of it.

I feel like this feature would just be too much effort to implement and manage for mappers, than the usefulness it would provide.
