Thank you to Tuco for letting me use his TAR forum post as a template (once again!)
Anime has returned once again!
This is an osu!standard 2v2, Teamsize 2-4, Score V2, Double Elimination tournament held for players at BWS Global rank 2,500+, second iteration!
Players must be within the rank range at the time of registration closing (no buffer at all ). After registration closes, all player ranks will be locked, and players are free to rank up or down as much as they want. Players will not be kicked out if they exit the rank limit before registration ends, as long as they meet the limit when registration closes.

Prizes
1st Place: Banner and a profile badge! | 2nd Place: Banner | 3rd Place: Banner

A standard 2v2 tournament where the only "gimmick" is a suspiciously large number of anime maps in each pool.
Spring Anime Showdown will go through a screening phase, as we are aiming to go for a badge. We will also use a badge weighting system.
The tournament is estimated to take place between March 27 - May 9

Stages will be Qualifiers, RO32/16 BO9, QF/SF BO11, Finals/GF BO13
Each team gets one ban starting from RO32 and two bans starting from Quarterfinals
2v2, international, Qualifier -> Double Elimination Bracket, Score v2, NF forced on every map.
Roll winner decides if they want to pick first or second.
Roll loser decides if they want to ban first or second.
No pick nor ban restrictions until ro16, starting at Quarterfinals you may not ban the same mod. You may pick the same mod in a row.
Players must be in the tournament discord to participate in the tournament.

Warmups will begin to be available starting from RO32.
Warmups will be a maximum of 4 minutes (a little bit over length is fine)

BWS
  1. BWS, or Badge Weighted Seeding, is a method that seeds players more accurately based on the number of badges they have, and enforces rank restrictions based on the player's number of badges.
  2. In other words, BWS "ranks up" players based on the number of badges they have.
  3. In terms of how much a player ranks up per badge, each badge is worth more than the one before it.
  4. The formula is as follows:
  5. This is not a measure of skill. Read the first bullet point again.
  6. No badge appeal request will be granted under any circumstances (Badges from other gamemodes, from mapping or other contributions do not count towards the formula)
Difficulty Scaling
  • Difficulty will vary depending on the signups and player performance

Signups - February 16 - March 7
Screening - March 8 - March 20 (hopefully)
Qualifiers - March 27 - March 28
Round of 32 - April 3 - April 4
Round of 16 - April 10 - April 11
Quarterfinals - April 17 - April 18
Semifinals - April 24 - April 25
Finals - May 1 - May 2
Grand Finals - May 8 - May 9
Registration closes March 7 at 23:59 UTC

Qualifier
The qualifier will last one weekend.
There will be qualifier lobbies open throughout the qualification weekend, teams can sign up for whichever lobby fits their time availability.
If you cannot attend any of the available lobbies, you may make a request for an "extra" lobby. This is only allowed in extreme cases when there is no possible way for you to attend any of the qualifier lobbies, the hosts hold the right to deny your request. Make sure to schedule this as soon as you can.
Each lobby can hold up to 8 teams.
Each lobby will have 1 assigned referee, who will be in charge of everything running smoothly.
The map pool format for qualifiers will be 4 No Mod, 2 HD, 2 HR, and 2 DT.
The lobby will play through the entire map pool once in the normal order.
Each team's score will be added up and compared to the total scores of all other teams competing in qualifiers.
You may switch members in an out between each map as you wish, as long as there is always 2 members of the team playing one map.

Bracket Stage

Double Elimination Bracket means a winners bracket and a losers bracket. All teams will start in the winners bracket.
Teams who lose in winners bracket are not eliminated from the tournament, they will be sent down into losers bracket

  13. Captains will redo the !roll and ban process as if it were another match.
  14. Teams may choose to play another warm up before the bracket reset match begins.
  15. The Grand Finals and the bracket reset may be scheduled for different days or the next week if the teams do not have available time. This must be handled before the match, and no reschedule will be accepted after the first Grand Finals match has been played unless both teams agree

Miscellaneous Rules
  1. If a team shows up after the match has been DQed and considered a no-show, they will be allowed to reschedule the match. This can be done only with the approval of the opponent, the referee of the DQed match, the host, and a referee to ref the rescheduled time.
  2. If a player disconnects within the first 1/4th of the map, they may reconnect within 10 minutes and replay the map. This will only be allowed once per lobby per player.
  3. If a player disconnects after 1/4 of the map has been played, their score will not count
  4. If a player disconnects at any point near map completion, their score at the time of disconnecting will be counted if there is reliable evidence that they had that score.
Evidence counts as - a registered local score showing the time of the score, a stream/video/screenshot of the score before disconnecting, a referee in the lobby who had access to the live score during the match, scores being submitted in IRC, etc, ask the referee if you are not sure if something is counted as evidence or not.
  5. If the referee feels that a team or certain players in the lobby are prolonging the match or "stalling", they have the choice of enforcing a 90 second timer for bans, picks, and readying up.
  6. If a team doesn't ban or pick on time once a timer is enforced, their ban or pick will be given to the opponent. This does not affect the order of bans/picks.
  7. If a team fails to ready up on time once a timer is enforced, the match will be forced to start by a !mp start 15 command.
(if they have to use the toilet, just let them go and give them an additional minute or two)
  8. If a player has technical difficulties downloading a map during the match, they will be given 5 minutes to resolve the issue. Maps should be downloaded before the match starts, so it is the player's responsibility to be prepared. If the issue isn't solved within the time limit, the match will be forced to start by a !mp start 15 command.
Throughout the tournament, referees will be trusted to make reasonable decisions on a case by case basis as each situation presents itself. If something is not stated in the rules, the referee will be allowed to make a judgement based on common sense and valid reasoning using logic and/or evidence.
